I get that - I just expect our Presidents and boards to inhabit the same reality.

Or at least the Council Of Presidents Spokesman.....hello is anyone home in WAFL land?

Beautifully said. Captured the situation perfectly.

I get the strong impression that the"powers that be" see the wafl as a dead man walking. We're just managing its ending. There's no way out. There's just no airspace left for a second level competition.

Maybe they're right. But you'd like to see a fight.

Why?

I have read numerous times on here that the WAFL is a superior brand of footy - so they should have nothing to fear from the imported Mexican teams.

Particularly as they are from Victoria.

Sat on their hands for weeks, meanwhile SANFL and Ams got organised and planned early...

We should of been up and running this weekend, a solid start with big crowds , could of had 5000 at virtually every WAFL ground.

Instead now we run head long into a mini VFL based in Perth...

Could not make this crap up,

The thing that gets me is now the Vicco League have announced that the July 18 weekend is when the WA hubs games will begin and the WAFC/WAFL clubs have still not announced anything other than what has proved that premature Round 1 fixtures release for July 18.

Wake up, read the room and bring the WAFL Round 1 forward to July 4 asap, there is still time to organise practice games for this weekend as well!

Of course this will require the wafc to put the pitchforks down on their salary leak witch hunt though!

organising the wafl comp was not a priority.
they had more important things to do like build an empire to spend all the govt money and then organise the investigation over an email leak.
these things take a lot of time.
doing those things meant the people in charge down there were not able to get any info from the govt as to when possible restrictions would ease.
well done to the ammos and the sanfl for running their comps in a pro-active way.

And all organised and finished by mostly volunteers I bet too MO and certainly not with a $10 million salary bill.
Hmmmm food for thought moving forward!!!

What I can’t get my head around is why our clubs didn’t stay in touch with government with a view to getting WAFL footy going as soon as it could, ie now.

Except for capesy of course.

Probably because the sport minister would need to become involved.... And from what I've heard, he's not interested in rocking the so called "commission" boat. I think he's more fixated in riding orf into the sunset at the next election and doing whatever retired people do! You can safely bet your whole life savings the next sport minister won't do a damn thing either!
Apparently the 8 Wafl club prez's have been gagged from saying anything from what I've heard. If the clubs did make a statement, their funding could be cut. All that would be denied of course.
