let us not hear any bull-shit from clubs about the standard when the date does finally come around -- they will have had a month's worth of inter-club practice. There should be no dropping of chest marks.

I thought the issue was more about that some clubs would get to play Peel twice which would have been pretty compromising for ladder positions.

It must have been the clubs chose the latter due to costs so not sure all the blame can be laid at the WAFC but agree they should have been a lot more proactive in getting things going. A July 11 commencement would have given the WAFL a head start over the AFL as clashing with an WCE/Freo derby on July 18 is not ideal in terms of media exposure and attendances.

Yep if there is an organisation you can bank on missing an opportunity you can back the WAFL everytime...to fixture Round 1 up against the Western Derby with 60K after a Covid crisis, takes a lot of thought to f@ck up.

Its extremely disappointing that 3 clubs have delayed the season for financial reasons, This Saturday they could of had thousands at their grounds and bars in full operation.

Piss Poor all round.

Instead of the usual Wafl to low key to a season start.

Just heard MCGowan on ABC News Radio telling WAFL to get moving and use Optus Stadium and promote some games and events there...interesting.

We should get McGowan in as the WAFC CEO after he is finished with politics?!
He would even double his salary that he is currently on as the Premier of WA!

.
And in all seriousness, we should start a petition to help facilitate that idea. And remove some of the donkeys currently there with haste! BH's idea deserves close investigation. I'm sure if the "experts" got organised for once, a day of Wafl footy at the new stadium could be held prior to the season start date. That would generate a lot of interest. And with the media still going baby Ga Ga over the new stadium, they'd be there.

the obvious soluation would be that the two clubs who have to play peel twice would also play subi twice or vice versa.too obvioius that playing subi twice is a disadvantage and that playing peel twice is a huge win.

It’s amazing isn’t it. WP get rewarded for having no money while the comp gets punished. And from what I hear it wasn’t just them who wanted a short season for financial reasons. How about the clubs look at how to make money out of the situation- there were opportunities there, all gone now.

I hear that wp, ef and , shame, my own club were against longer season due to finances.

Just so so so pissweak.

it was wp & peel

Post #1 on this thread...it sounds like Haggers was on the money for once.
