Why would clubs be complaining about the cost of playing more games now crowds are allowed without limitations? It doesn’t make sense. That argument about cost has surely disappeared? And haven’t they reduced player payments by half?

Post #1 on this thread...it sounds like Haggers was on the money for once.

I assume this post is in jest BC? In fact I reckon there will be bumper crowds and player payments should be restored to what they were prior COVID-19.

It was good to hear Glen Mitchell & co on the radio call out the WAFC & WAFL for not starting the WAFL season on July 4 where they could have had free air here in WA with the 2 Vicco League clubs hubbed in QLD. Backwards thinking and lack of foresight. Also said they copy everything else the afl do who have an inequitable draw every year but we stick to a pitiful 8 game season.

Monaghan had a good idea this morning that if the Freo Derby clashes with the AFL Derby, we should move the Freo Derby to July 11 as a standalone fixture and the rest of Round 1 play on July 18.

Will find out next fixtures tomorrow or Friday for the AFL. Might be on Sunday the 19th.

On 91.3 Sport FM this morning between 10-11am.
Both Mitchell & host Crawshaw agreed with most of us on here that the WAFL has YET AGAIN missed a trick by not starting the season on July 4 and thus having 2 weeks of live football with crowds here in WA to ourselves without the Budgies & Dorks in town, mentioning how much media the psa has recieved without competition and the pfl will have the same when they begin on July 4.
By the time the WAFL commences on July 18 not only will the 2 Vicco League clubs be back but with a Western Derby which will mean absolutely zero media coverage of the WAFL season kick off.
It is not rocket science bring the season forward 2 weeks FFS or just continue on the same path as the last 33 years and wonder why they are not introducing hordes of new people to WAFL footy!

No point in getting excited about having the derby on the 11th. Common sense and innovation is not in the purview of the WAFC.
