And Gaff showed no remorse immediately after he landed the blow. He dropped Brayshaw like a sack of spuds and ran off. He showed no concern for his welfare at that point.

Even if Gaff wanted to punch Brayshaw in the chest as he ran past....why?....your side is comfortably in front on the scoreboard and the kid is 18 and a first year player.....why would a veteran of 175 games be bothered about a 1st year player?......geez all these aimless tough guy jumper punches in the AFL now, are as pathetic as those Neymar and Ronaldo WC nancy dives.....hopefully Gaff won't be doing that again...once bitten twice shy I reckon....point to the scoreboard next time Gaff.....nothing more painful than that for an opposition player....bar a busted mandible though....

I’ll preface this by saying that I have already stated my total disappointment at Gaff and what has done. We’ve all discussed it endlessly and voiced our opinions. Reading back through these pages the trend is now to heap as much crap on the Eagles as possible - the usual thing we all do to each other’s club. The sad thing about it, is that it’s all about bagging Gaff because he’s an Eagles player and also give you all a chance to lay shit on the club. When you’ve got as much venom out about anything Eagles, let me remind you that there’s a young bloke at home that won’t be eating a burger for a month. Having read all the above, I believe some of you are no better than the press that you say you don’t read or watch.

58 I sat down this morning to write something and have found your post to be almost everything I wanted to say!

There is no way to condone Gaffs actions but to pillary the club and the player to the extent that other posters on here have, as you are allowed to, to write the rubbish the worst has over the incident and to watch the 7 news last (my wife's choice not mine) and see that muppet parry at the press conference is sad.

I took the very unusual step of watching the 7 football programme last night (very unusual) to see what they almost intellectuals ion there had to say and I was amazed that all of them made the comment that they did think it was out of character, that it was an attempted punch to the chest and that he deserves 5 to 7 weeks for being dumb! Carey who you either like or hate even had a go at Lyons abt his press conference and Cary never criticises Lyon ( or so I was told by a mate who religiously watches the programme).

My opinion is that it was one of the dumbest unintended consequences I have seen in my watching of football, should he get rubbed out for 7 weeks yes, is he contrite yes, is it a cultural thing at the WCE (who should all know I have little or no time for) no from my interactions with the WCER players. Is the worst milking it for all its worth yes and lastly lets move on!

This would have to be the closest Gaff has ever gotten to a physical contest.

as I said...the intention criterion has already been ruled upon by Michael Christian and he's given it the most severe ranking possible. Gaff can argue all he likes he didn't intend to hit Brayshaw in the head but the tribunal will most likely not take it into account given the action and the outcome....we'll all see I guess.

That's pretty much how it works BC, once it ruled intentional then its straight to impact. Any argument they put up about "what he was trying to do " make no difference at all to the penalty. Or he can fight the charge...good luck with that.

The comment above referred to the Fremantle football club and it's officials and the fact the weagles have not contacted them. The comments from Roos were solely about the officials and nothing to do with them contacting the father (however stupendous you think they are for having contacted him, would have thought that was just basic courtesy and decency as they have another son at the club).

Gobsacking arrogance to even try and amount any defence on this one, to Gaff's credit at least he isn't.

This discussion is out of hand because not too many have put aside their emotions.
Obviously most are Fremantle supporters.
The Tribunal will deal with it.
I am sure they will consider all your views and suspend him until 4220 at which time we hope the AFL still exists.
