Some very impressive hitting by Young Ben McDermott tonight Mike in his 114 off only 52 balls. Ben is the son of former top Aussie fast bowler Craig McDermott.

It was madness Mike.Stuart Broad of his first 12 balls was only 9 runs.His second set of 12 balls went for over 30 runs.Renegades broke the BBL record for runs.And the Hurricanes chased it down.Amazing 100 by McDermott great support from Bailey. Broad was fantastic in the last over.These things happen to the Renegades no side loose as many close games as they do.

A lot of BBL games have been one sided this year.But Friday night was a beauty . Renegades 199 and McCullum 50 off 18 balls in the chase.But couldnt play Hoggy.Then the last over 3 wides which means next ball free hit.But you can still be runout and that happend twise in last over.18 runs,3 wickets with 2 runouts.The last ball with 2 to win was a wide but runner ran as ball was bowled and was runout.

Awesome display by Johnson tonight. 3 for 3 off four overs surely nobody has been more economical than that in 20 over cricket. With Starc and Hazlewood out of the country next month and unavailable for the three 20/20's v Sri Lanka, I wonder if the selectors might make a phone call to Mitch to see if he might be available for these games. Stars were always pushing it uphill after losing 4 wickets in the power play

Great to see Marsh back in form, pity he wont be there for the final but a good opportunity for him to play a few ODI's in NZ. Probably either Cartwright or Bancroft to come in for him , otherwise no other changes to the squad I would think. My prediction is that they will be playing Brisbane who should beat the Sixers at home IMO.

I must admit I have been perplexed by the tweets that the Australian cricket coach has been sending during the telecasts. I wonder if he really should be doing this given his official status in the game and potential conflict of interest. Same for Mark Waugh in commentating. Up to now its been fairly harmless light hearted stuff but tonight Lehmann sent a tweet suggesting the Stars should get rid of Kevin Pietersen and opined that KP was full of excuses and overpaid. Pretty tacky stuff for a guy in a senior position to be putting out there on National television. The thought did cross my mind that it was staged but it still doesn't look good.

Probably not a great look coming from the National Coach Mike but I agree with what he tweeted ...is there a more nauseating character around than Kevin Pietersen aka Mr Excuses?

Just thinking back to last nights coverage on 10 and that flog Pietersen making every excuse under the sun for his own failures banging on about how bad the pitch was, how he he never cued a ball off Johnson before (bullshit) even his own captain in David Hussey admitted it was at least a par score of 180-190 wicket, then goes off injured in the field after a very ordinary chase down to the boundary...good on Boof for calling out this attention seeker, he is a cancer to most teams he has played for and even one of his very own (Saffa/Pom) in Strauss had the common sense to cut him adrift from the Poms squad!
