Back in London BH our sailors done really well and saved the whole team..Mens and womans Hockey.Hopefully some surprise medals in week 2 on top of the ones who are expected to do well.

Yes i agree LH although it is great to see the inroads that have been made in sports like footy, soccer & basketball in getting some of the African boys involved in those pursuits.
I just wonder if those Sports Institutes actually work on the mental side of top level sport and not just the physical side as looking at a few of our athletes at the games they havent handled the pressure anywhere near as well as those from the professional USA & to a lesser extent UK. Kyle Chalmers has been an interesting case study he is so relaxed has a kick of the footy before races and then his performances exceed all expectations, something to learn from maybe?

LH there talking up the Canadian swim team for Gold Coast.They finished 6th in the Olympic pool. 1 gold and 7 addind silver and bronze.Australia still finished second in the pool with daylight to the Usa..Usa 16G,,8S,,9B,,AU,3G,4S,3B

Yeah, I remember when Canada used to be one of our main rivals at Commonwealth and Olympic games in the overall medal tally. But lately, no so much.

Looks like out of the 10 medal events for sailing we are coming 2nd, 6th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st. So as you say we might be able to make up some ground in five of the 10 sailing races

Cheer up -- it is only sport. It is not 1976, when apparentlly we did bugger all, the French Canadians booed the Queen, and most of the Third World never turned up because NZ had played rugby against the Boers and they wanted them banned from the Olympics.
