Very interesting page with the rankings of all olympic athletes

Based on current world rankings we were predicted to win 8 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze in the pool alone

Alarming stuff

Ok, now that I've seen the rankings it becomes a bit clearer. The swimming was an absolute disaster. In the cycling we got swamped by GB as did everyone else. Men's Hockey was a poor result. Most other things as per normal. So we do have a few more chances

BMX Men - Ranked 4
BMX Women - Ranked 4
Kayak K2 1000 Men - Good medal chance
Kayak K4 1000 Men - Medium medal chance
Discus Women - Ranked 5
Basketball Men - Silver or bronze maybe
Basketball Women - Silver or bronze maybe
Equestrian - slim to medium medal chance
Sailing Nacra 17 Mixed - bronze/Silver possibility
Sailing - Laser Men - Silver possibility
Sailing 49er Men - Outside medal chance
Sailing 470 Men - Gold possibility
50km Walk - Current Olympic Champion - medium chance injury concerns
Water Polo Women - Medal chance
Hockey Women - Still in there with a chance

The British are doing really well, Max Whilock picked up 2 golds in the gym alone. That was a first for them.

The GB have a population of over 65 million....there are nearly more folk living in London alone as there are in Australia.....of course they are going to win more golds/medals etc....plus the GB are made up of a number of individual countries, who when they compete individually at the Commonwealth Games usually are behind the Aussies in the Medal count......

GB are dominant in the cycling and rowing and do well in the athletics....and as a whole do well in the swimming....individually as Eng, Scotland and Wales they struggle in the swimming especially.....Aust will be lucky now to get into double figures gold wise....think if the likes of Larking, Seebohm, Canpbell x 2 had lived up to their seedings then Aust would be in double figures now....Aust peaked day 1 of the Olympics and haven't risen again sadly....

Larry Bird wrote: Very clear our swimming trials need to be moved in line with the USA. Can't listen to Bazil calling the swimming it's shocking. Call the race accurately not pretend the Aussie has started well when in fact they are tailed off last.

LB he would be a good radio caller.
