Every winning medalist is tested Grassy.That has been the case since Spain 1992.So there is no way Phelps in his 4th Olympics is anything else but clean.Just a freak.
More than half the Russian team is not in Rio so that's an easy one.
On the Chinese swim team they done a total ban of international events in the late 90's and another in the early 2000's.They have cheated in the past but agree there clean now in Rio.

We can point the finger.

But no other major swimming nation has performed so dramatically below "personal bests" in the last three olympics.

All you had to do was see how focussed Phelps was before his race, compared to the way the Campbell sisters were carrying on even the commentators noticed and made comment about it.

some good posts on here people. I agree that it is likely that Phelps and the Americans are clean, otherwise they would have more Phelps'. Remember the GDR? Now that was systemic cheatting. I used to support them as a kid too.

Ark Rob Woodhouse Abc Grandstand said both sisters didnt look totally focused when entering the Areana ?Phelps allways comes out with headphones probably blasting heavy metal.
When the race started both sisters looked at each other on the blocks when all other competitors where in the water,totally blue the start.Both swimmers panicked and over raced in the first 50m.Differnt to the way they have trained for this race.Kate hit the front with 25 m left but faded to 4th,hit a brick wall.
Point of interest on the race it was a dead heat for Gold between Usa + Canada.Canada 1st olympic gold.And a bonze no silver medal awarded.Didnt watch cermony dont know if Usa had anthem played first or Canada ???

You mean the Crash sisters. I can never understand why in our sport there is a need to interview players, coaches or athletes during or immediately after a game or their event when they have just busted their guts.

BH and DD -- thanks a lot. I agree about interviewing people after events too. It is asking far too much. Apparentlly, Packer introduced it for a short time during rebel cricket, and understandablly, it was a flop. I have seen I M Chappell interviewed after he had been dismissed, and, although he tried his best, in the end, he walked off.

It is a pity he never showed KJ Hughes the same consideration at the toss in 1984.
