In fact, the Kiwis used to play in the domestic 50 over competition into the mid 70s as 'New Zealand'so there is some precedent for doing. It won't make me watch KFC cricket.

All over Aussies wrap up the NZ series 2-0 and the 5 Test summer vs the Kiwis 4-0 with a draw thrown in.
All the best to Brendon McCullum in retirement he will leave a big hole to fill in the Kiwi ranks I mean where are they going to find another 'NZ legend' to average 38.07 with the bat?! :pinch:

No trick missed today BH.....kudos to McCullum on his career....TBH NZ are farked without him......he was the only reason why NZ got to 375 in the first place TBH.....as for the Aussies the top 5 and keep look settled and secure for now...the bowling stocks look strong with Starc, Cummins, Siddle on the sidelines and a host of bowling youngsters like Behrendorff, Paris, Stanlake et al in the wings........the all rounder spot is definitely up for grabs.....Marsh needs to become a batting allrounder not a bowling all rounder, especially if he wants to bat top 6......Faulkner, Agar, Stoinis etc are options if Marsh continues to falter......horse for course I guess for that all rounder spot.

No doubt the Kiwi's will hammer our Aussie uncouth ways......but hey I will smile and wave and enjoy the coming weeks......

Gee Freeze I thought the Kiwis would be a far tougher opposition at home then they ultimately proved. Maybe I have been listening too much to the opinions of biased NZ commentators in Smuthy & co were you would think they were the ones fighting for the World No.1 ranking (currently 6th) not us!
The fact they keep on picking Guptill in Test cricket probably says a lot does he even avg double figures vs Australia?

There is no doubt the pitches were not what the Kiwis wanted, in both tests after tea on the first day the pitch was a featherbed and that suited the aussies as the kiwi's if they have a strength it is their bowling.
Low innings scores was what they wanted but in the end they got beaten by a better side.
We are always going to be tough to beat when we play on good batting decks.
Well done to the aussies, well done to McCullum also on a good test career without it being great. Been a great leader for the Kiwi's though.

Thing is BH if NZ keep playing ODI's before test matches then Guptill will always be picked....he seems to have this Jeckyll/Hyde batting personna with test and ODI's.....I am happy to see him selected every time for NZ v Aust :P .......Boult and Southee were both disappointing through out all 5 tests.....Boult is better though, always thought Southee was over rated.....Wagner just bowls short and the Aussies gifted him 6 easy wickets in his 6 for in the first innings.....some of those field placings in the 2nd innings pretty well summed up the fella's bowling prowess.....Williamson is a class act, Latham is steady as is Watling.....Henry bats better than he bowls so TBH I would rather have him than Mitch Marsh right now.

Like I said even with santner and Taylor back, McCullum is a huge loss.....his presence for this team is huge, yeah he may average 38.....but over the last few years during his captaincy I reckon his average would be close to 50....he is the only guy in the team with the balls to attack in that 1st innings scenario of 3/30 odd.....Williamson got bogged down terribly.....McCullum backed his instincts and it paid off.....oh well that's NZ crickets problem now to find a replacement.....hopefully the Aussies can build and build with this young team and cement a legacy like the 2000 era team team did....time will tell.

Had to laugh nothing was mentioned of Boult's send off to Burns in the second innings....no stump mic but clearly told Burnsie to Fark off.....mmmmmm not very sporting of you Trent was it mate? .....Hazlewood gets caned for "politely asking" who the 3rd umpire was....yet Boult doesn't get reprimanded.....oh well the Kiwi's will only see and hear what they want to I guess.......though with the rugby starting this Friday I reckon the cricket over here will be quickly forgotten

My wife and I were sightseeing in Christchurch on Monday and we decided to go for the last hour or so of the day. We arrived just as Brendan McCullam was walking in and TBH I was hoping he would hang around for a while because there are no dull moments when he is batting. My claim to fame is that the 6 he scored the ball before he got out bounced between my wife and I on the bank! It was past me before I had a chance to grab it.

That ball Mike was as hard a hit as I can remember seeing, it sounded like a cannon going off from the Fox broadcast let alone being at Hagley Oval live.

Interesting about the 1970"s and the NZ team. The Big Bash is a good way to help cash up Nz cricket. And two more good teams in the Big Bash.
