Mccullum's test average in South Africa is 17.00; in Australia it is 24; and, in England, it is 29.00. The man gets out against good bowling because of his poor technique rather than playing for the team. He had a good innings today --and he deserves to be applauded-- especially given the run of bad luck he and his team have had throughout this series. Equally, one needs to keep things in perspective, he hardly hits the ball off the square in overseas

For the record his batting average in tests at home is 48.00.

You cant argue with the statistics you have produced. Brendon as a player will allways be a fantastic memory of entertaining sport..Taking away the World Cup final but match against England in the World Cup.He fills Stadiums hes going to love the Big Bash.So are the fans.

Hi gtrxuone, Yep agreed. People will remember that knock, together with others that, is for sure and certain. As you pointed out in your post, the New Zealanders have made enough runs to put Australia under the pump, so I too will be interested to see what happens over the next few days.

Yeh got to put him into context, firstly he wouldn't tie Gilly`s or Sir Viv`s bootlaces, secondly he wouldn't have played this type of an inning v`s the great WI`s attacks or Aussie attacks of the past and averaging 38 in the current day is average, back in the day v WI or Aust an average of 38 would be superb. Add to this bigger bats, small grounds..pfft. He is a basher, slasher and entertainer plus on and off field gentleman it seems, but way off the mark from the very best and greats

Replacing Vettori for the Kiwis is like us replacing Warne.Southee or Boult has to take a 5 or 6 for otherwise UK,SS+AV also M Marsh and our tail will smash them for a 500+

Gee Steve Smith made a massive blue by taking Jackson Bird out of the attack just after he had got rid of Anderson, Williamson & Southee within the space of an over or so with the new ball and replaced him with Hazlewood who was then carted everywhere allowing the last 3 wickets to put on 130 odd before he finally brought Bird back on to clean up the tail.
Will be watching with interest tomorrow morning to see if that blunder comes back to bite us in the chase for 201.

Yeah mate I agree but cant help but feel we missed a trick there with Bird on fire at that stage only to be taken out of the attack with only 3 to get ...130 runs later!
