Agree 100%. As it turned out 186 was nearly enough. The New Zealanders showed remarkable sportsmanship I thought in the face of an awful decision from the 3rd umpire which turned the whole momentum of the test.

yep -- since technology has come into the game, it is only out if snicko or the hot spot say so. One wonders how they managed to cope in the not so old days when people were given out on the basis of simple 'observation' or 'hearing'.

Totally agree BH.....gonna need a big effort from here to save this test.....let alone win it.....Starc out injured....the Marsh brothers forming the nucleus of Aust middle order.....mmmmm Craig taking wickets.....points to a tied series 1 - 1 I reckon

Off the top of my head I reckon we would have to go back 30 years to find a more flaky 5 & 6 in the batting order then we currently have Freeze?

Probs when we had Greg Mathews and Hooksey coming in around 5 and 6 in mid eighties

Listening to Nigel Llong talking through the referral you understand how it was he came to the decision as there was no noise at the time of impact on snicko.
Now for all those getting their knickers in a knot over this dismissal as the supposed "worst decision in history" have very short memories ...go back to the 2013 Ashes Series were Khawaja was given out caught behind off Swann by a ball he missed by half a metre and of course the Broad non decision when he edged Lyon straight to first slip and inexcusably was given not out!!

Perhaps we need to have the bat looked at as well as from all reports there is a pink mark on the back of his bat.

I must have missed all the criticism of Lyon for not walking; did he do a "Broad"?

Swan: it would have been interesting had Gilchrist been the batsman.

I think Lyon genuinely didn't know if he had hit it or not. The only reason he started walking back was that he saw the spot on the bat like everyone else and he expected Llong to give him out. The only criticism I would level at Lyon is that he should have waited for the red light.

Geez the Kiwi's are moaning over here......under arm and all that de je vu!!!.....yep the Lyon decision was definitely unlucky for the BlackCaps.....but hey the NZ bowlers had plenty of opportunity to get Lyon again on his way from 0 - 30 odd and couldn't......and their batsmen had a fantastic opportunity to get a bigger score against an Aussie attack minus their number one bowler and couldn't......move on Kiwi's..... one decision, amongst many made in a 3 day match, doesn't cost a game......yep frustrating but I have no doubt the Aussies will get their due in time......

The whole idea of all this new technology is to make sure we dont get it wrong.Yes NZ done the sporting thing and waited to the end of the test to lodge an appeal againt that decision..
