Comprehensive performance by the Aussies. Voges must be seeing it like a beach ball at the moment, Khawaja is making runs for fun, the bowlers worked well as a group. They seem to have specific plans for the Kiwi batsmen which has reduced their effectiveness. Williamson is a case in point. He has been far less prolific in NZ than he was in the series in Australia.

NZ will come back hard in Christchurch so the Aussies need to improve some aspects of their game to take the series. Burns needs a score, Pattinson will probably come in if fit, Siddle may go out as he still seems injured. Bird bowled better in the 2nd innings so will probably keep his spot. The other change I would consider if I were the captain would be to swap Nevill and Mitch Marsh in the batting order. This would take the pressure off Mitch's batting and Nevill is good enough to hold down number 6 IMO.

Brendon McCullum scores the fastest century in Test cricket history off just 54 balls beating the previous record from IVA Richards & Misbah Ul Haq of 56 balls after being caught off a no ball and dropped by Pattinson off his own bowling.

You just have to give it to Baz though BH. He rides his luck and more often than not it doesn't work against high class bowling. Today was pay day for him and he bullied the Australian bowlers into bowling where he wanted it. The lack of experience in the bowling line up showed. All the same if Pattinson had done the basics right and kept his foot behind the line, we would be chasing 150 right now.

Yes you are right Mike Baz did ride his luck and full credit to him which I should have acknowledged 145 off 79 balls is incredible and he did time the ball beautifully when not getting those thick outside edges over the slips and hit the gaps in the field ..I just couldnt believe the rubbish our bowlers were dishing up to him half volley after half volley the odd half tracker but not 1 fricken yorker there is a good reason McGrath took 550 wickets was his ability to bowl a good yorker every now and again!

He has a test average of 38.00 -- and most of that has been made in NZ.

Starc would have been handy today although even he might have wavered in the onslaught. Will be interesting to see if the NZ bowlers can bowl better than Aussies have and what approach Warner and Co will take to the chase.

Amazing partnership between McCullum and Anderson.Au where on top at 4/75 before the Kiwi comeback.Brendon plays for the team and not a big average of personal glory. This is the 5th test between these two sides this summer and the best the Kiwis have done is 17 wickets in Adelaide..So they have a lot of trouble bowling AU out twise in a test. This gives them a decent score and plenty of time to bowl Australia out.

mate I had a great day......the first hour was so farkin painful it was awful...yeah great to have them 3 down but sooooooo slow......McCullum had a day out.....simply that....he pinned the ears back and it came off....kudos to the guy....at least he added some excitement into my day watching......the NZ ferals near us were giving Lyon a mouthful....then Lyon took that screamer of a catch...shut them up beautifully..at least the game is up for grabs....Marsh took a screamer.....sadly for him Patto over stepped.....good day all round....thank fark for McCullum instigating some spark in to this contest....NZ will be stuffed without him to be honest.....Williamson got so bogged down, Latham too....Guptill is soft and Nicholls a newbie....if Watling can make a run a ball 50 then I expect big things form Kwahaja, Smith and Voges TBH
