Firstly well done to Cam Bancroft and Michael Klinger for batting through the entire day of 109 overs today to assure WA a spot in the shield final next weekend. Only the 7th time in the long history of the Sheffield Shield that 2 batsmen have batted for a whole day.

As Victoria have earned the right to host the final, they have a problem as apparently the MCG is the only venue in Victoria that is an acceptable first class standard, and of course the 'G' is otherwise engaged. So apparently the Vics want to play the game at Bellerive Oval in Hobart ( cue inclement weather conditions/flat pitch/ draw = Easy shield win for Victoria)

One slight problem with this is Cricket Australias own rules which state
The team that finished first on the points table at the conclusion of the preliminary matches shall earn the right to host the final at a suitable first class venue within its state, provided that this venue is acceptable to Cricket Australia. Should the team waive this right, the choice shall be offered to the team that finished second. Otherwise the decision shall be made by Cricket Australia.

My reading of this rule is that because the Victorians have no suitable ground available, they would waive the right to host the final and therefore the game should be at the WACA, but WA would still need to win the game to take the shield. There is no logic to having the game in a neutral state.
Is this another example of dirty tricks by the Vics??

No it'll be played at the Junction Oval for sure - that's the next best deck in Vicco
So reading into things you would have to think she's as spicy as a Vindaloo curry fart ;)

It is good to see WA in the final again. If it is played at the Junction Oval, I don't fancy our chances too much. I remember as a kid, Julian Weiner and Jeff Moss made 200 each and WA being thrashed.

The final will be played at Bellrieve in Tassy, the Junction Oval is not up to scratch apparently.

I have just emailed Mike McKenna. Will let you know if he responds.

In the second most populated state how they couldn't find ONE suitable oval is beyond belief.
