Just read the attachment from Growler's post. WOW!!

If true and obviously I can't say; then there is no way IMO that the ring leaders should be allowed to expect mercy.

But naïve or not, you have to feel sorry for all the mules.

I feel sorry for these 2 boys, I do. Their parents must be terribly devistated. To lose their children in such ways will haunt them for their lives. But, I travel to Indo every month in my work and the sign is there for every person to look at. Death Panalty to Drug Traffikers. I believe that every person must see this punishment.

We all know that there's a lot of crap written by misinformed journos, but if that article is correct, I couldn't defend them any longer.

As one commentator said

I have noticed how the address of Jesus seems to be care of the nearest jail - that's where all the people filled with guilt seem to find him.

Problem is when they are executed they will not even see God as they will go straight to Hell

And to quote Chan the ringleader.. If you believe this you believe in fairies

In an interview with ABC TV he pleaded for clemency, saying if his death sentence was commuted and he was released from prison, he wanted to help the community and become a minister of religion.
This message represents the official view of the voices in my head

It would be interesting to know what the mules of the Bali 9, plus all the other mules whose lives have been ruined by Chan and Sukumaran think when they read or hear about all the efforts being made by so many people to save the lives of the two scumbag ringleaders.

However, I still think the death penalty is extreme - Indonesian life in prison would be more befitting. And of course there's still the thought - what if it was your child. Any parent would fight the penalty. I know I would.

I think most people would agree that the death penalty may be extreme, but that is the law over there so if you risk it for a quick dollar and get caught then you need to pay the consequence.

And of course any parent would fight for them. Doesnt even have to be a parent, just a loved one of any title, but just because they are upset about it doesnt mean it shouldnt happen still.

Noticed that Saudi Arabia executed two by the sword yesterday taking their yearly total to 31.. No many complaints from Australians..

Australia should be stronger in advocating for the abolition of capital punishment everywhere.
In the case of the Bali 9 drug smugglers they should be shown some mercy because
  1. They have already served 10 years in a stinking hole of a Jail in Bali which makes Aussie jails look like holiday camps.
  2. They have been instrumental in rehabilitating more Indonesian prisoners than any of the people who are paid to do this. This is backed up by many of the Prison guards in Bali.
  3. They are willing to serve the rest of their lives continuing this work in the prisons
  4. The drugs they were smuggling were heading for Australia not Indonesia
  5. There is not a jot of evidence in any research anywhere that capital punishment solves any crime problem or acts as a deterrent.

Make no mistake this is political act by a President desperate to shore up his position. There were very few executions in Indonesia while the previous president was in power. The execution method of the firing squad at midnight is cruel and barbaric and ensures maximum pain for the families of the condemned men.

If you took a survey now on the death penalty for the likes of the Birnies, Child Rapist/Murderers like the one in Queensland etc, and why are tax payers paying to keep that oxygen thief martin bryant alive for years and years, ?? no doubt at all most people would say, yep.

Also in our region we are the odd ones out, most Asia countries have the death penalty, they see us as weak and soft on crime, in Asian culture firmness and harhness is resepected in the Authorties Power, as we become more and more Asianised and its happening very quickly now, I would imagine things will go the other way, and death penalty could be back on the cards here.
