Been pissing down all day and they are playing dry weather footy. If there is a better playing surface for footy in this country I’d like to know about it.

58s what shithole do you live in? They way you’re carrying on about my postcode lately I thought you must live on Jutland Parade? :woohoo:

I actually thought the standard was bloody ordinary DD, simple mistakes made, poor kicking, ball handling, decision making all from supposed 'elite full time professionals" or so the media "experts" keep informing all and sundry they are.
The Lathlain surface held up well as you say but so it should for the amount of money $40 million+ the 3 levels of Government have forked out on the whole precinct, although there must not have been any of that taxpayer money left over to returf the Orrong Rd end outer as it is still a sand patch that has now turned to a mudpatch!
Looked like they had cleaned up the place from Wednesday night a fair bit and put up temporary fencing up the back where the former fence was that was bowled over in the storm.

I didn’t mean the standard of footy was of a high standard I meant it looked no different to dry conditions, ie players could bounce the ball.

BH think I heard a bloke on radio this morning say your scratchie v WC was played on the outer oval while the girls trained on the main ground. That is ridiculous.

Was 4302 according to Leather Stops on Essendon thread Baz.

Yes that is true DD we played on the ground on the Roberts Rd side.
No qualms from us as the surface and lighting was pretty good on that ground as well but it was a fair way from the opposition changerooms and there was no scoreboard there and temporary benches were used.

remember quite clearly lots of households "rented out" their verges on big saturday games - all the grounds too
others barricaded themselves in or got out the front on the balcony with the trusty transistor if they could hear it through the roar
ah the good times when you had to skip 1 or 2 kilometres to a ground if you were late

Many, many years ago when we used to take the kids to the Royal Show, people galore used to hire out their front yard.
