Well the Eagles are stupid if they stated it would only be used for training purposes. That clearly needs to be amended. The Eagles home base has added huge profile to the area and no doubt they are now one of the biggest rate payers but that's where i smell a rat.

I reckon it's all about $$$. The Town of Victoria Park think they're missing out and want a slice of the action. They will either want to increase the rates if the Eagles want to have their agreement amended to include pre season fixtures or you mark my words, expect to see parking meters lining the streets of Lathlain Park by this time next year. It's all about the grubby dollar and fuck all to do with community.

But what they fail to realize is it raises the profile of the area and therefore the VALUE of the area.

The only Rat I can smell is the Eagles not being up front about what they were going to use the ground for.

WAFL had their games covered why not them?

I reckon the parking inspectors will be out in force tomorrow night dishing out parking fines in the Lathlain area. It may be best to catch the train if your going

Apparently there will be road closures so you probably won’t be able to park very close.
Probably best to use public transport as suggested by WCE

I think DD is on the money. The council had plenty of notification that a game had been planned. Then 2or3 days prior, they start whinging.? As he said, it’s got to be all about dollars. Why wouldn’t you want your suburb and one of its finest facilities splashed around the country in the papers? I bet most pricktorians don’t even know Lathlain exists atm. They may be technically right, but it’s a crock of shite.

Gee they wouldn't want a crowd of over 2k for that game as Lathlain Park has been hit pretty bad by the storm yesterday and the outer at the Orrong Rd end is looking like a bomb has hit it.
There are fences down, signage down, fallen tree branches lying around and the netting behind the Orrong Rd end goals has been destroyed.
It would be fair to say they have a bit of a clean up to do first thing tomorrow before holding a game there.

So if they asked you if it was OK to build something up the road from your house, you looked at the conditions and said yep, that's all good, and then the developers went and did the complete opposite, you would be OK with that? I guess its not your street so you would not give a rats arse about having your driveway blocked off, people double parked and thousands of people tramping over your yard.

Remember it might start with one game, but as the council says with three teams now operating it could end up a regular event, best to get it sorted out properly and be up front about their plans.
