Will be interesting to see how we go. The last few years our reserves and colts have been pretty abysmal. Swans seem to desperately need an accountant or someone with at least a background in running a business in charge. It seems like the members have entrusted too many people over the years who probably love the club and have their heart in the right place but had absolutely no idea with money.

I'm very concerned that this debt could send us under. In my opinion it could not have come at a worse time time as I expect crowd numbers to drop drastically this season because of the host club scenario and both local afl teams probably playing finals. I realise it is unpopular but i am also not averse to a merger with Perth but the problem, as with all mergers, is one club tends to benefit greatly at the expense of the other. It would be unthinkable for me to back a merger if my club wasn't going to play at Bassendean.

I think with Paul Douglas as our treasurer now we have someone with both the ability and discipline required to sort out our financial situation. It won't be easy and it won't happen quickly and there will be some decisions which need to be made which will not be too pleasant but I feel confident we will get out of it in the long term. With respect to a merger no matter how you put it it would signal the end of the Swan Districts Football Club. No-one really believes that Fitzroy exists in the AFL these days in any guise.

Yes we have Chevron, BHP and all the others still onboard with the V Swans programme. Steel Blue have extended as well. I am not sure whether you are a member or not - if you are get the Annual Report and read's Tom Bottrell's article and if you are not a member it would be a good time to join and preferably get a few more to join as well.

With Krakouer now not playing with West Perth but working up North did Swans receive a transfer fee?

he's on West Perth's list on the wafl website so something must have been agreed on..whether the money has changed hands I am not sure...
