MO, TRSM & Mike what is that old saying about Insanity-
"Repeating the same mistakes and expecting a different result".
Well the SD football side are certainly well on the way to turning their supporters insane with their continual moronic football style that throw up the same results year after year-
Losses and Wooden Spoons!

Pickering is attempting to implement a game style that he developed under the Eagles while colts coach at East Perth. It’s evident that his message doesn’t get through and or the players aren’t good enough to deliver so if he isn’t able to deliver a game plan that makes us more competitive he needs to go. 11 inside 50’s for 1 scoring shot in the 1st half is woeful! 13 in the 2nd half isn’t any better and 4 in the last qtr and again, this isn’t a new issue!

The thing that frustrated me the most was that as badly as they played in the first half, they managed to turn it around in the 3rd, play a decent brand of football that put them into a winning position. Then instead of continuing that style that worked in the 4th quarter they reverted back to the insane bullshit defensive rubbish they were playing in the 1st half. When will the coach get it through his head that they are not good enough to play this sort of stuff all day without making mistakes and I would have been happier if West Perth had won if it was a shoot out in the last quarter ( i.e both sides trying to attack and score goals)

Danger they fluff and stuff around with the ball in the back half, midfield and dont even look to move the ball forward whatsoever so those Inside 50 stats you produced do not surprise me.
It is ugly to watch and annoyingly frustrating and to be honest I have had a gutful of it.
If anyone at SD had a brain they would show this playing group the style of the SD side of the 1980s that were on youtube recently including one game against a strong EP side at Perth Oval and the 84 GF where we kicked 10 goals or more in the 1st qtr and that was by playing a strong, direct brand of skilful football not this wishy washy backwards sideways handball happy crap until we inevitably turn it over and the opposition goal of the last 3 terrible years!

Mike I totally agree, I would rather go down kicking 15-20 goals then the miserable, pitiful 2-6 goals we have kicked in the last 3 or 4 years, at least you will go home entertained.
We kicked 5.3 of our 6.5 in the 16 minutes of the 3rd qtr and a pathetic 1.2 in the other hour or so of the entire match...you really have to wonder what goes on down there I am suspecting not much!!

BH dont know if you noticed but the COMBINED score of the Swans League, Reserves and Colts teams yesterday was 15 - 19 - 109. So in 3 games of football they just scraped over the ton. The conditions werent that bad and there was very little breeze but Swans only managed 1 goal to the Bassendean end in the league game. As TSRM said they do have good targets in Notte, Kohlmann, Noble and sometimes Gault when he drifts down there but they don't seem to be set up to take advantage of that.
Now Swans are looking down the barrel of a game against Claremont who would be bursting with confidence after their victory yesterday, then an encounter with Subiaco who will have been fuming for 2 weeks following that unexpected loss then after a bye a match against the Doggies at the port. After what I saw yesterday it would be a miracle if we came close in any of those games. If that happens it will be 0-4 and we will be in yet another battle for a wooden spoon. Sorry about the negativity but I have had enough of watching this garbage that is served up to Swans supporters and its been happening since Hardings time but Pickering has turned it into an art form. Rant Over

Oh I noticed alright Mike I even commented to Swan 42 at one stage in the Reserves that we had only kicked 4 goals in almost 7 quarters of football played to that stage.
It is obvious to me this piss poor, defensive minded, low scoring, backwards, sideways, wishy washy coaching "strategy" is being implemented through our entire playing squad from Colts to League and probably Futures as well and if it continues on I wont be and thus end 40 years continuance of attending SD games!
It has got to the stage where I would rather be doing something else with my Saturday afternoons if all we are only going to produce is a pathetic 1.2 in 3 quarters of football for most weeks again!

I might add and it may be some food for thought for those rocket scientists at the footy club is that the only Premiership we have won in the LAST 30 YEARS was with an attacking minded game plan under Brian Dawson from 2008-10.
This boring as batshit defensive crap style has got us nowhere since and it is and will be driving life long supporters away from attending!

The other trend I have noticed and this happened so many times last year was Swans complete inability to run out games and yesterday was another occasion that West Perth had far more run in their legs in the last quarter. The players are obviously not fit enough to implement the game plan and then we see awful turnovers and error from fatigued players like we saw yesterday.

True Mike and we have a new Sports Science coach at the club now but we have been in training for 9+ months now dating back to late Oct/early Nov 2019, if we are not fit after that we never will be!
