The first two finals have been disappointing games.Hurricanes lost the elimination final to Thunder. And the 6ers early beat the Melbourne Stars on the Mcg.
Next up is Adelaide Striker's v Sydney Thunder at the Adelaide Oval. The winner of that match will play the Melbourne Stars. In a preliminary final and progress to the Grand Final v the 6ers at the Scg.
The Sydney 6ers have added Steve Smith,Josh Hazelwood,Nathan Lyon and Shaun Abbott to the side.Shaun Abbott is an international T20 bowler.Good luck to whoever plays them in the final.

How was the piss poor crowd of 13k last night GTR for a final too and this in the self proclaimed "sporting capital of the world"!!!

Yep one could think Steve Smith alone ,should of bought at least 10k in the gate .Bad sports+losers.
Optus would of pulled 40+ for that game last night v the scorchers. Who are already doing 30+ with an average side out there.

I feel like we have been conned out of an international season here with 5 one sided tests which were all over in early January and nothing apart from a few meaningless games in India. There always used to be International games (ODIs or Tests )around Australia day but these have now been superseded by the boring BBL.

Cricket Australia got greedy Mike and cooked the golden goose that was T20/BBL in the early days by doubling the amount of games played and the time the comp is played over, it should be just a 2-3 week tournament played over the Xmas/New Year/to mid Jan school holidays not well into Feb when most people have lost interest by then as lets face it the hardcore T20 fan doesnt have a long attention span.
There is no real International stars that play in the comp more like second rate B graders or retired has beens, CA has even allowed our own stars to totter off to India for a meaningless ODI series smack bang in the middle of our cricket season ffs.
I am not really sure 2 teams each for Sydney & Melbourne has been a winner either probably should have had a Canberra side and possibly Darwin instead so that all Capital cities are represented.
Like you say International cricket fans have been dudded I would rather 6 tests every Summer and a 5 game ODI/T20I series than the overkill of an extended BBL.

And with the amount of rain forecast in Sydney on Saturday they will be lucky to get on the ground for the final. Surely there needs to be a provision for a reserve day or at least to reschedule the game to somewhere drier. The women's competition has a "finals weekend" which hosts all the finals at the same venue over a few days. That could be looking at for the mens BBL as well because I think that interest has waned significantly in the competition due to the elongated finals series.

BH if only 5k there they would be making a massive loss. I would guess 25-30k would be a break even point for the "G", it's around 20K at Optus I believe.

SS the "official crowd number" was 13k although I reckon they might have counted many of the patrons twice as it looked very poor on the box and there was little atmosphere.

I read sometime back that the Vic afl clubs had to get a gate of around 20k-22k per game just to break even at Docklands so would assume the MCG would be a similar figure.

The next best thing to WA/Perth winning titles is watching VIC/Melbourne choke again.
Well done Sydney Sixers.

The dismissal of Marcus Stoinis in the first over was critical. Complete brain fade to hole out when he had already clubbed 10 off the over. I was wondering why the Australian selectors left him out of the ODI and T20 squads for South Africa. Maybe it is something to do with his decision making under pressure.

In contrast what a great knock by Phillipe. WA will be doing very well to prevent him from moving to NSW next season.

Despite the Scorchers mediocre season.Heard on the radio yesterday they needed 20,000 a game at Optus to break even.Think they averaged around 30,000 for the Optus home games.
