One good thing about this BBL is to highlight the standard of umpiring in Australia which has been amateurish at best, non more so than the efforts of NSW hat-rack Davidson he of the very itchy nose and the trigger finger when the Scorchers are batting against a Sydney side!

All the more incredible that they haven't got DRS for the Big Bash BH. Maybe that's to avoid the embarrassment to the umpires for all the lousy decisions.....For a competition that rakes in the $$$ you would think that they can afford a few extra cameras at each venue. Even the Bangladesh Premier League has reviews I think.
While we are on the subject of umpiring decisions I think that the howler by Nigel Llong in the test against Blundell when he was on 90, was one of the worst calls I have seen for a while. Bought back memories of the Sri Lankan umpire who fired Ponting for 97 on his test debut in Perth when the ball wouldn't have hit a 2nd set of stumps! This is the benefit of DRS.

With the year 2020 almost upon us I think it is about time we utilise the DRS for all decisions and get rid of the 2 referrals, at the end of the day all cricket fans want is the correct decision made regardless of who you support.
I would also make the lbw's any part of the ball if it is hitting the stumps it is out none of this umpires call rubbish, if it hits the pad is going on to hit any part of the stumps (no bat or other involved) it is out lbw!

Yep, I'm with you on this and a return to the interpretation pre-technology. All DRS does with umpires call is admit the margin of error on their technology is significant. If anyone needed proof of that its the DRS interpretation of Paine and Taylor's LBWs in the last Test.

21,000 the best crowd they have seen at Metricon Stadium Gold Coast for a while.
Scorchers looked like they struggled to reach 150.It looked at least 20 under what was a competitive score.
But bowled really well with all bowlers contributed to the win.4 wickets in the powerplay had the heat on the back foot. Then the spinners took over. The Heat batsman had no answer including Lynn 14 off 19 balls.

Great effort by the bowlers to restrict the Heat to just over 100. To be honest I thought they were about 20 short in the batting but the bowlers combined well to take regular wickets. Ahmed and Agar in particular strangled the life out of the Heat innings.
Does anyone know if Kurtis Patterson is close to making a return as another specialist batsman would be very handy in the team to push those scores up a bit.

Hopefully soon Mikeh. The scorchers will loose Ashton Turner and Ashton Agar very shortly for the one day series in India. It would be nice to replace one of them with a specialist batter
