Hilton Cartwright
Nathan Coulter- Nile
Lance Morris
David Moody
Liam O'Connor

12th Clint Hinchcliffe

Very top heavy batting side with only 4 specialist bowlers but they would have Stoinis, Cartwright and Short able to share the 5th bowler role and given the power of that batting line up they would be defending 180 - 200 more often than not.

I guess that line up also confirms what I have thought about the overall standard of the BBL Mike in that it is a pretty ordinary competition in the overall scheme of things.
The bowling has been atrocious to be honest and the fact a Pakistani grade cricketer like Haris Rauf can dominate probably says a lot.
The only top class Internationals the competition can attract are the recently retired South Africans like DeVilliers & Steyn, those from the lesser known cricketing countries of Afghanistan & Nepal & second rate Poms, the rest of the squads are made up from our stocks outside our best dozen or so players who are on Test & ODI duties.

Yes of the 12 players I listed ( leaving out Harris who is in Victoria) only Marsh and Stonis are regular Shield players. NCN is not available and some of the others are 20/20 specialists but often players who shine in this format struggle in the longer version. For example Jon Wells has performed very well in 20/20 for the Strikers for a number of years, yet he is 51st in the batting averages in Perth Grade cricket and has been long forgotten in terms of selection for the shield team. Massive gap in the standard of 20/20 to other forms of cricket but it entertains the masses. Personally I am looking forward to the next test in the fascinating series in South Africa.

3 in a row for the Scorchers. After losing 2 wickets early in the power play.Inglis+M Marsh put on over 100 runs and got Perth back in the match.
Richardson +Fawad where excellent again with the ball. And Dr Livingston picked up a couple of wickets.
Melbourne Stars on Wednesday at Optus. Hope they don't rest players with Maxwell +Stoinis both playing.
Last 3 home games have drawn 30,000+.Wonder what crowd will go on a Wednesday night.Friday or Saturday night might of drawn 40,000.
The Stars look to well balanced atm.And are smashing all opponents in there last few games. We will see what happens.

A bit harsh there I think BC. In every game David has played, he has come in at number 7 and been obliged to throw his bat due to the circumstances of the game so he hasnt really had a chance to establish himself. In my view Sam Whiteman is the guy who is under scrutiny as he has been given an opportunity to bat in the number 3 position since his return and failed on each occasion in that spot. Sad to say but he is a shadow of the player he was before that horrific finger injury.

It will be an interesting game V the Stars with all those West Aussies in the team, I guess all we can say is that they are due a loss hopefully.....

On a positive note what a fantastic spell from Richardson tonight. When he can throw again surely he will be back on the radar for Australian selection. I heard Shane Warne give Josh Inglis a wrap on one of the BBL commentaries and that was before his innings tonight. His glovework is very good as well so he may be lining up as a possibility for an Aussie cap at some stage.

Very true about Whiteman....not sure how he keeps getting top order opportunities...Surely Green should be given higher batting... opportunities?....over time Green could have that Stonis effect if batted long enough......very true re Richardson mikeh....bowling really well of late

I think they keep picking Whiteman because we have no other leftys in our batting line up with Agar away on AUS ODI duties (not that he scored many anyway).
But gee I dont think he has even got past 20 in any innings this season either for WA or PS and Voges patience must be running out on him?

Tim Paine gave Inglis a wrap last night as well on Fox. He said Inglis was the best young keeper in the country. Not bad coming from the Australian captain who's a keeper himself.
