just a few observations about the batting

turner and bancroft can't bat--if they don't find form we have lost a generation of batsmen
se marsh has made some runs but is getting old
most of the other batsmen average around 30 this season
mr marsh, whom is supposed to be the captain, is not a top order batsmen either, but will want to bat there to justify his position in the side next season. His average is just 32 in FC. KJ Hughes batted four, can we got back to that?

As BH has sugested, it all begins with the surnames starting with 'm'.

If I was Voges I would have a rule: no all rounders in the top six. This makes MR Marsh an all rounder at seven or one of the seam bowllers at 8. The other option is to get rid of him and pick a young captain as SA did years ago with Greame Smith.

Just to re-state what other people have said: we have not won the shield for twenty years, in spite of some in the side playing for a number of years; we will finish near the bottom of the table, unacceptable given our record in the shield up to the start of the 21 century.

Totally agree Ark....definitely no allrounders in the top five....the likes of M Marsh, Stonis and Cartwright are odds and ends cricketers...the first two especially bat top 5 due to their feats in the shorter format and continual Aussie selection,on the hope they can somehow deliver on their hit and miss talent...but in the test team they would never bat top 5...so why in Sheffield Shield?

In some respects Cam Green not bowling has definitely fast tracked his batting....if there was to be an allrounder in the top six, then let it be him, with the primary emphasis of his selection being his batting.

I guess having the likes of Paris, Coulter Nile, Behrendorf etc continually on the sidelines has resulted in the likes of Moody and Mackin to get more games then there ability suggests they should....Kelly has been the one find bowling wise, out of the big three being injured year in year out...it's a shame Jye is away playing pointless ODI games at this stage of the season...

AR ever since Shaun Marsh made his debut for WA in 2000 we have not won a Sheffield Shield title.
Not completely putting the fault squarely at his feet but it does make you wonder about the general attitude amongst the WA squad since those days!
Does team success now mean as much as it did to those WA sides from the late 1960s through to the early 1990s?
I personally dont think it does from my vantage point!

Well done to Sam Whiteman for his ton today which is one bright spot in the face of a likely defeat. I like a lot of others thought that he may be given his marching orders at the end of this season, but he may have just played a career saving knock here. Whiteman was unfortunate to cop that finger injury while keeping which kept him out for ages and no doubt affected his confidence as well. Hopefully this will be a turning point for him as he is still relatively young.

Definitely sewn up a contract for next year me thinks with that 100 mikeh...but I guess the law averages will eventually swing in ones favour with endless opportunities....but hey well done to the fella of late though...good chance for Hardie too lock in a contract for next season as well.....is it time to cut the likes of Bancroft loose....quite surprised Voges had the balls to drop him actually

Getting a bit tight for Queensland at the WACA. WA 91 runs in front, 2 wickets in hand and 28 overs to go. Hardie has been excellent. I've got mixed feelings about this because by saving this game we may be gifting the Victorians a place in the shield final.

Again the tail end has to do what the top order is responsible for - and again one of our brightest opening talents seen in years rots at number 6
I have doubts they'll save this one and anyway they don't deserve to given the poor last 3 match performances
Whiteman is not the future and neither are half that side
The Marsh brothers have had massive hype shoved upon them ever since they were young teenagers and it shows up a heap of times every season

Well done to young Aaron Hardie on making his debut first class century.
The likes Of Hardie, Green, Richardson, Phillipe, Kelly, Inglis etc are the future for WA and it’s time we said goodbye to others who have had many a chance for little result.

129 to win at 7.5 an over. You would think Queensland will have a crack at it given their season is on the line. Wouldn't be a huge target in a 20/20 game and QLD have some big hitters so I reckon they might come close.

Khawaja out in the first over, this could be an exciting hours cricket!

QLD did the right thing not chasing fully after they lost a few quick wickets. They dominated us for about 22 out of the 24 hours of that match, and, it would have been a travesty to gift WA the points. They would have won had Burns caught Hardie.

BH: my favourite moment from the two decade long unsuccessful Marsh era was when geoff brought back those two cricketers from Zimbabwe. What were their names?
