The team has just completed two games on eastern states wickets without a recognised spinner. Unheard of, particularly given the games were in Adelaide and Hobart where the tracks are flat for the fast bowlers. If there is no one playing at grade level who is good enough, Voges needs to look at luring someone over from another state. Mitchell Swepson or Cameron Boyce would be examples of spinners who have shown they are capable of playing first class cricket and may be tempted by the opportunity of being WA's first choice shield spinner. Agar has been groomed as a white ball specialist and is generally ineffective in 4 day cricket.

Amazingly due to other results, WA still have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the final so they may not make too many changes for the game V Queensland at the WACA. If Stoinis is fit he will come in for Whiteman probably.

Why dont our selectors ever give Clint Hinchliffe a crack at first class level?
Left arm chinaman bowler (same as Brad Hogg, Simon Katich, Beau Casson, Darcy Short etc) and very capable lower order bat he would have to be a better choice than the likes of Mood y & Mackin who have had a lot of chances for minimal results it has to be said.

The WA selectors finally lost patience with Bancroft who has been dropped and will play grade cricket this weekend as will 2 other ex Australian representatives in Turner & Cartwright.
Stoinis & Inglis come back into the side to play QLD this weekend at the WACA.

About time for Bancroft really BH, they have hung on to him for too long I think. No spinner again although not as critical at the WACA I guess. Our batting still looks very fragile and Neser and Co may well put WA out of their misery on the weekend.
Looks like the shield final will be played in Woolongong this year. Nothing against the place but this is the latest humiliation for the showpiece of the premier first class interstate competition to be played outside a capital city shows how little regard that Cricket Australia have for the Sheffield Shield

and it took yet another wasted season to finally do what everybody bar the WACA knew what should have been done after the first 2 games
The two talented young fellows should have been given this time to form something good up top & give us hope for the future mate
its a shambles of a state side

Think of all those great players in grade cricket over the years that never even got a go mate like John McGuire etc and then there are those that get opportunity after opportunity and still dont perform but continue to get picked for WA!

The thing is AR we can actually produce a decent spinner right here in WA as well (MacGill, Mallet, May, Jenner, Stewart, Casson et al) but we just barely play them and so they knick off to the East Coast and thats even without bringing over some of those very good English professionals of the past you brought up and not to mention some of the imports from the East like Beer, Agar etc as well.
I reckon Hinchliffe will be the next one to move on and make a mockery of the selectors.

Two additions and one subtraction from that list, BH.

IN - Yardley and Hogan

OUT - May (who was, and is, a croweater).

and there was another one Bob Paulsen
Mallet & MacGill were the two biggest cock ups
There has never been the need to import but due to the ignorance it's had to go that way
This association has some closed corridors and it always has - that's the pity
