The lowest score in the history of the Scorchers tonight...for mine they can't bat with their 4 for 12 after the first six overs the lowest ever recorded anywhere in the world in first class T20 cricket, they can't field with 4 catches dropped and can't bowl...with the exception of Kelly and maybe Qadir. After one season Voges must be under pressure as well as a few of the big noted players....if they're not, they should be.

What an embarrassing performance by the Perth Scorchers tonight in front of their fans. Possibly the worst in their history. To get beaten by that much indicates that there are clearly problems within the team that go beyond cricket. The body language in the field was terrible, the field placings were not in tune with the bowling plans and the fielding was shoddy. As for the batting, it was beyond bad. Many of these players have been involved with the successful Scorchers years and you just don't lose your ability. They are not playing as a team and that is the responsibility of the coach.

Pathetic attempt by the Marshmellows in leadership. Dropped catches, easy missed stumping & a woeful 4/12 in the powerless play..
Team looked good on paper & kept Renegades to a score NOT too hard to get.
Should get Stoinis next year as captain & restructure the side. Dump the Marshmellows, play kids like the Renegades did.

Watching them last night I had a feeling that there was something wrong within the team. I was thinking that maybe there is some angst about the way that Klinger has been dumped when he probably wasn't batting any worse than a few others who have kept their spots. Tye at one stage seemed to be having an argument with his captain about his field placings, there was very little celebration of wickets. They just seemed to be going through the motions out there and didn't look like they were enjoying it. Before the Scorchers innings ( shambles) started, I thought the Renegades score of 157 was well over par as the pitch was doing quite a bit but our bowling and fielding again was not up to standard. Too much short stuff. Tremain, Richardson and Christian showed them how to do it.

The Daily Telegraph reports that there was a crisis meeting between CA+Foxtel+Channel 7 yesterday. About the extended BBL8 season. This story came to the media after Heat captain Chris Lynn said his side is burnt out.Lynn used last night's performance of the Scorchers as another example of team burnout.
The current BBL salary cap is 1.75 million .Adding $75,000 to the cap each year. With each side allowed 2 international imports.Fox+7 want the salary cap doubled, 4 international players in each team. The best available international players are currently in Bangladesh. And declined BBL contracts.
What Fox+7 want is
1.Double the salary cap to 3.5 million.
2.13 games over 7 weeks for each team.Changed to 10 games over 6 weeks.
3.Double the international players from 2 too 4 players.
4.Possible entry of a Nz side.Like Nrl,A League+Nbl.

This opinion piece sums it up pretty well
The Big Bash should be a competition played in the school holidays with the final this week instead of dragging it into mid february.

I read somewhere over the weekend that the Hobart Hurricanes are being called "Scorchers 2.0" in that they have developed a team which revolves around their local players with a few notable imports and are playing with confidence and flair. Hobart have been very impressive so far this season and have today cleaned up the Brisbane Heat down in Tassie. D'arcy Short is a WA rep who has been playing with them for a number of years but I didn't realise that David Moody is also in their squad. He got an opportunity today and took 2 - 27. The Hurricanes are going to be hard to stop for the title.

Actually mike, there are quite a few non-Tassies in the 'canetoads squad.

Those that I know of are: Jofra Archer (Eng), Johan Botha (Sth Afr), James Faulkner (Vic), Ben McDermott (Qld), Simon Milenko (Qld), Tymal Mills (Eng), David Moody (WA), Clive Rose (Vic), D’Arcy Short (WA) and Aaron Summers (WA).

Mills was injured pre-season and they haven't replaced him with another import..
Botha retired from all forms of cricket immediately after their last match against the Sixers.
There was word pre-season that the 'toads may try to lure Short to Tassie for the Sheffield Shield.

I’ll add my thoughts to those disappointed with the Scorchers. All year I kept thinking “this’ll be a good match” or “we should win this one”. Talk about coitus interruptus!! Can’t bat, can’t bowl, can’t field, yet there are some very good cricketers there. Maybe people are right saying there’s internal problems. Not knocking Voges, but I’m sure there were experienced coaches around at the time he was appointed.
2x25= Seinor and Michael = 1xBrian Peake

OTO James Faulkner is definitely a Taswegian, his old man Peter also played for Tasmania during the 1980s.
