The Big Bash is the introduction to Cricket for a lot of young people +women.Family friendly +good entertainment. Maby CA in this current format might have the season a bit to long.
Channel 7+Foxtel are happy with the TV ratings. But attendances in Melbourne +Sydney continue to be poor. The Sixers are over the moon to get 15,000 at the SCG.Same with the Stars at the Mcg.

Yeah red somewhere crowds on average down 8000 a match since when it started.

Just chequed it's 800 a game.Scorchers moving to Optus has help the crowd drop. With Optus crowds double that of the Waca.
BBL 07 av 22,791 .
BBL 08 av 21,991.

Sorry GTR, its what i read in an article some where!! Here is part of it

The average crowd number of just under 20,000 at this point in the season is down on the average of almost 23,000 at the same point last season. The figure is 27 per cent lower than the average crowd figure for the whole of last season, though attendances tend to pick up after Christmas.

Stadia in this year’s BBL have been slightly more than half-full on average, as opposed to last year when they were just under two-thirds full at the same point.

The attendance figures represent the second consecutive year of negative growth for the league.

After steadily building to an average crowd of more than 30,000 in 2016-17, the league shed almost 5000 s

Don’t call me “champ” - that’s just another insult - I could respond with like, but I’ll leave insults up to you.. Ok, so you may like the game, but my point was, who are you to belittle people? You obviously see yourself as a paragon of virtue. Well that’s it for me on this one, I won’t argue with my “self proclaimed betters”.

Settle down 58 the champ reference most certainly was not meant to be an insult, it is a term I use quite regularly to friends and associates and not in a derogatory manner!
On the bbl "entertainment" we will have to beg to differ...if you like wearing silly shirts, bucket hats, music like "If you are happy and you know it clap your hands", mexican waves & booing those who do not participate, fire cannons, disco dancers, mc's shouting down the mic incessantly with ridiculous comments etc when attending the actual games then you go for it!

The nickname champ is an insult in some circles, so if I was off track with you, sorry. Personally, I find this americanisation of the game is sickening. I would never get caught in the crowd mania the ground callers get into, but I respect anyone’s right to be involved.
Well, back to the real thing, the Scorchers have a real uphill battle to make finals. Someone mentioned that they have to win every game from here on...not sure they’re good enough for that.

Shaun Marsh will be a great help at the top of the order and if he and Bancroft can get them off to good starts then they will be able to post competitive totals that they can defend. I would give Klinger a go down the order a bit ( say after Turner) to see if he could get his touch back without having to face the new ball.
Maybe a team like
Shaun Marsh
Bancroft
Turner
Klinger
Cartwright
Mitch Marsh
Willey
Coulter Nile
Tye
Berendorff
Qadir

Agar is a massive loss of course from both a batting and bowling perspective, but I think the team above would have the potential to cause a bit of mischief in their last 5 games.

Rule a line through Willey Mike....he's off back to Pommyland after the ECB called him home...no great loss tbh.

We should target WA boys Darcy Short, Marcus Stoinis & Josh Phillipe for next years Big Bash.
Willey, Klinger, Qadir & a couple of others to be let go to make the cap space for the 3 above.

CA are changing the BBL starting date next year.
It's Currently Dec 16 to Feb 14.Next season is Dec26 to the end of Feb.
The thinking is they want 1 more Shield game when the Test series is on.

I agree with the consensus that less games is better. The bb season was too long this year and has lessened the manic interest in the game. Still lots of people going to games, but it’ll get to an overkill situation if they’re not careful.

Thought i read somewhere the same amount of games next year. I think the novelty factor is wearing off, and yes it has a market, though i doubt it will grow

Looks like the 6ers are going to beat the Hurricanes at the SCG .And secure 2nd spot .With the Stars winning the early game today. With another Strikers batting collapse. So it's the top 3 in place leaving a group fighting over the 4th place and a semi final in Tassie.
