The kid is just one player, he’s done at Perth so move on. He may have to sit out a WAFL season but he’ll eventually be a Shark. Why he chose EF is probably a combination of a few reasons.

I’m not sure why Perth are in here throwing stones about local players- most of your Top 10 over the past few are imports.

It would be easy for Minreal Resources to remedy if it was just a case of money - all they would have to do is match what EFFC are prepared to pay the player.

Pity to hear Brad McGowan is heading back to Peel...too many tall EF forwards to compete against....not sure Peel is gonna be any easier....perhaps Perth may be interested....

Ti Em... sigh... I'll try to explain again. Perth have a contract with Leggett. The contract contains, among other things, an agreement as to match payments. What message would it send to other players if Leggett could increase his match payments by threatening to walk out? What message would it send to other WAFL players? You are so fixated on getting Leggett at the expense of Perth that you lose sight of the bigger picture: EF has (or should have) as much interest in the integrity of contracts as any other club.

All contracts aren’t the same. The fact it’s going to arbitration suggest Leggett has a case to present. That means somewhere along the line, Perth have (possibly) fucked up. Let’s just wait for arbitration where I’m sure the full story will come out

Well sounds like you have the advantage of knowing not only the size of carrot EFFC are dangling - you know the fine print of the players existing contract with Mineral Resources.
Fair play to you - I am certainly not privy to either and won't pretend otherwise.

Does sounds like it is still 1977 at Mineral Resources though. Sure your principals may be admirable - but they are outdated. The rest of the world has moved on for better or worse. The precedence for this sort of thing already exists. If it was just money it would of been a lot easier to privately renegotiate terms with the player.

Arbitration goes beyond just the contract and has a best interests test. How that could possibly be applied in favour of EF is hard to imagine in light of: 1. Perth's extended lack of success, 2. Perth being advised by the WAFL to promote home grown players and 3. EF having far more high points players than we do. But all that said, I accept there is a real chance the arbitrator will rule in favour of Leggett just because I think there is a tendency to reach agreement and to keep the player happy. I have no basis at all for saying that, it's just an impression. But you EF fans have suggested we should let Leggett go: 1 Because why keep a player who doesn't want to play for you? (ask Geelong), 2. It's unfair to keep a young player out of football (we're not doing that) and 3. Bizarrely, we should let contracted players receive offers from rival clubs and then hold us to ransom. All those suggestions are ridiculous and would lead to ruin for any club who adopted them.

Maybe East Freo have gone to arbitration as a tactic to and force Perth’s hand.
Nothing presented so far indicates a breach of contract by Perth so maybe it’s all tripe from EF

I feel sorry for Cody. Someone has sold him a lemon. He should have a chat with Aaron Black and Shane Nelson and ask how much Bubbalo Bill helped them get drafted. Could probably add Luke Meadows to that list. Nelson and Black wouldn't have missed a state game in the last 6 or 7 years unless they were unavailable and one has won a Sandover.

Oh that's right only mature aged Perth players that win a Sandover don't get drafted. Hmmm add Jye Bolton to that exclusive list who didn't get drafted.

Maybe they were trying to keep it out of Arbitration in the best interest of the player?? Sounds like Leggett is going to have to tip the bucket

It's hilarious you blokes think Leggett has dirt to tip on the PFC. Goes to show how desperate you are getting.
