I believe pre season recommences next Mon....Hopefully the injury list is minimal and the squad can hit round one in full health.....

Bit of chat that EF have lost a load of quality over the summer....yep some good dependable sorts have moved on, but in reality most have been fringe during those Spud Wiley years and Bill's first year....

Up back the likes of Jupp and Winton will have support from two newbies in Riach and Tucker...Both young lads keen to get themselves back on an AFL list....youngsters in Jackson, Bailey and Davidson got some league footy last year whilst ex colts in Trefy, McGuire and Eaton will hopefully get some league exposure during 2020.

Through the middle Snadden comes back after his Achilles woes in 2019....lasted one game from memory, so a recruit as such...regulars in Eardley, Kommer, Bennett, Boekhorst, Murdoch, Manning, Baskerville, Davies and Jansen will be there and there abouts....youngsters in Jai Jackson and Michael Wright will be looking for some league exposure.

Up front twin towers in Loersch and Strnadica have the potential to kick some decent scores....Bonomelli and Teakle had some league footy last year....so hopefully they can continue to improve....small forwards in Ryan and Ritchie had injury interrupted 2019....fingers crossed they can stay healthy.....Fletcher is talented but needs consistency.....Ruck wise obviously Griffen will give his all....Strnadica, Teakle and Watson as back up talls.....no doubt missed a few....fingers crossed those big outs from EF don't hinder any expected progression under Billy in 2020

There isn't one Out so far that was a regular League player in 2019.

I think Riach is likely to play further up the ground- he was on 91.3 a few weeks back and spoke about playing Forward or on the Wing. He also pumped up Tucker- excited to see these 2 in action as they sound like they're great additions.

Mills and McGowan look like depth players to me but I would've said the same about Morgan Davies, who was an excellent addition to the team last year. Most of the guys we've added over the last 2 off-seasons have had little profile but look like decent players- especially Tassone and Davies.

The defence and midfield looks good enough- how our forward line functions will determine how well we go- Loersch and Strnadica look like a handful but haven't quite delivered the goods. Will Bockman, Murphy, Ryan, Monaghan and Co continue to improve and consolidate their spots in the best team??? Also, can Lester-Smith rediscover anything near his best form??

If we get full seasons out of Kommer and Loersch, I'd suggest finals would be a lock.

Thanks for that KC....Monaghan, Murphy, Tassone, Bray and Bockman all got some senior footy as you say....hopefully they stay fit and continue to develop....yeah Snuffy 2 fit n firing would add some depth to the team.... Curley and Garlett are two exciting Gero boys as well...totally agree re Loersch and Kommer...both have played half a season each both seasons so far at best since joining the club.

Gee without “spud” Wiley there is no reason why you shouldn’t be premiership favourites. As well as that you can add the great Bill who moved you up one whole position last season. Marvellous job by Bill.

Shame to see the of likes Perham, Pearton and Harrold go - but the writing was on the wall for them. Pearton made not one league appearance last year whilst the others all struggled to cement a regular league spot in a line up that remained quite stable throughout the season. This was one pleasing aspect to the season gone after the revolving door of Wiley's tenure. Another was a more direct approach to moving the ball - extreme indirectness being something else that badly marred the season's prior to Bill's arrival at the club.

The In's look promising. Mill's should help Jupp and Winton down back. How Riach, Tucker and McGowan are used and seeing if or where they fit in will be interesting. I see recent addition to the senior list Jacob Ingham has played colts footy - anyone know for which club? The midfield improved massively last season and well may that continue in 2020. Snadden back from long term injury will be a bonus and Kommer when fit and playing has shown he is a key element in the middle of ground for us. The ruck is well sorted by Griffin with support from Strnadica and Loersch. Nic Watson was solid in the reserves and could figure at some point this season. For us i see the biggest issue being goals and a lack of. Inaccuracy also cost us a few wins last season. Hopefully we see improvement up front and sharpish.

The core of this group looks solid. Improvement and development from the peripheral players is paramount. Hopefully Davidson can fulfill the promise he showed late last season. Zac Jackson and Lachlan Bailey likewise should continue to improve and help out down back. Montaubin and Ambrose Ryan have shown glimpses of class and potential as sharpshooters. Tom Monaghan was a surprise up front last season and hopefully someone like Dylan Curley can replicate that. Bockman and Murphy can give us run in the forward half of the ground and Milan Murdoch could spend more time in the middle of the ground. If this improvement and development comes as the younger players continue to gain experience and barring serious injury to the more experienced players we should be aiming for at least 10 wins - which should put us in finals contention.
