Custodian wrote: Thanks Ti Em. Total project has been costed at $21 million with the Town of East Fremantle having endorsed it and committed $6 million. Apparently hopeful of State and Federal funding early next year. The building and redevelopment of the ground will mean that we will need to train and play elsewhere for a season.
I thought Shimmo said that there would be 500 under cover seating for members with more in the pavilion overlooking the oval.
Good to see Steve Nugent and Graeme Herman Carter as life members.
Apparently the club was considering doing away with Friday nights as the turnover each week had dropped as low as $500 a year ago but with the commitment to the redevelopment and the work of people like Rod Grulizich, live music, the bar is now again a going concern.

Town of EF CEO stated yesterday the total cost of the redevelopment would be $26 million. He quoted they are chipping in 5 million and will be hitting the State and Federal governments for the rest along with the AFL and possibly even the Lotteries Commission. They are hoping to have the the funding in place by March next year with work starting at the end of the season. The Undercover seating to me does not look enough and that was the point I was trying to make. The artist impression i saw yesterday had 5 levels of seats roughly spanning the distance of the centre square along the western flank. Probably and hopefully closer to 500 than 200.

KCEF wrote: Thanks TM, was there a rundown on football? At the end of the day, the ground needs an upgrade. From my understanding the whole venue will be opened up- are there any fences? Interesting the ground is shifting- wind being a big factor at Shark Park. Will it retain its size?

Well done to Carroll and B.Walker- who both drifted a little. Hopefully a rookie or 2 today

I did not go to the AGM but did go to the 2 hour Town of EF presentation and Q and A. The ground will be opened up and will be without fences. Nothing along Marmion Street to stop balls or dogs going on to 60 K an hour road. Hedges around the croquet and bowling greens. The Depot and housing on Allen Street no doubt would be fenced off though. But the proposal is for no fencing anywhere else. The ground being flattened out and slightly realigned makes sense as it enables the clubroom to be positioned better to view the action. The Oval itself would also be a bit smaller too it was stated.

So no fencing means free entry to all games at Moss St apart from derbies and finals??
What was EF councils justification for that? Plus there wont be attendance numbers?
Would be around $200k in gate receipts for 9 home games?

I won't assume it is the councils idea to not have fences - but it may well be though, and a way of getting together the 20 million shortfall in funds they presently have. EFFC could still potentially sell the undercover seating and make up the foregone gates receipts in other ways.

Cheers for the update guys, any upgrade of EF oval surely must be a good one, with or without fences...I guess with the initial drafts out the way, someone like Jono Marsh who missed out might make a decision sooner rather then later...As for HT, reckon come the new year, if the competitive footy fire in his belly is still there he may slip the boots on....at 34/35 he won't be expected to do a full pre-season anyway...after a decade plus of elite pre-seasons his fitness base won't suffer that much....he always came home over xmas/new year and runs around with the Mid West Acadamy boys anyway up in Gero...consummate professional is that fella HT....what will be will be I guess.

You guys have got me and the rottweiler confused. You're using words like upgrade, redevelopment..... Are you bulldozing the joint and getting new ones or just going to add a bit of window dressing for 21 million? Surely not? The rottweiler can't wait to christen the new turf.

You EF guys may have already seen this but found this youtube animation fly through of the proposed $26.5 mill proposal, looks awesome, a proper multi use community facility.

Wow, you guys might end up with the best of the lot. Not sure about the fenceless concept though. That does look awesome. Is there any residential development planned around it (highrise)? If not you are on a winner.

Apparently no high rise residential development is planned. According to the presentation by our CEO the ground will be fenced for about 4 games a year (Derbies and finals if we make them????) The Town of East Fremantle will apparently provide an agreed amount to compensate for the loss of gate takings. All in all a great concept if it gets the financial support needed.
