Southerner -- That is the point there was a need for compensation in the first place; from the late 1970s great efforts were made in this regard by the other clubs, the WANFL and the wider football community.

Always worth a laugh when DuckHeads start taking up their development efforts in their junior zone. All clubs put great time and effort into their junior zones especially Subiaco, we can't sit back and take it for granted like Swans do and rely on the massive participation numbers. Our country Zones also require a lot of commitment, it's probably quite easy for Swans to get a kid up from Bunbury to train or try out, emagine the effort required to get a kid to travel 700+ km up from Eaperence or Kal

Doing a great job in your zone Mat how's that Colts side of yours and WA 18s selections going?

I imagine it's as hard as it is to get kids down from the Pilbra, not that hard really.

Unless your a gun,why would you want to come from esperance or kal? You'll get bumped aside in the end when the club recruits from afar.

They're a precious bunch aren't they. Now that their league side looks like missing out on finals they will start talking about having the most supporters and how Basso is better than every other home ground.

TOSG perhaps you might like to have a look at the league ladder. I am still waiting for Mudlark's and LB's apology for asserting that Swans had exceeded the salary cap in 014. An assertion which was patently WRONG.

42 you might want to have a look at your upcoming fixtures. Your spot is temporary and I know you love your thesaurus so it's also brief, changeable, ephemeral, evanescent, fleeting, for the time being, fugacious, fugitive, impermanent, interim, limited, make-do, makeshift, momentary, mortal, overnight, passing, perishable, pro tem, pro tempore

42 why dont you end this debate here and now and provide the proof that says SD hadnt exceeded their cap midway through the year then.......please dont say Hodyl said you boys were fine and daney in that 30 second chat you had to his back last year as he was walking away from you......no different to Muddy or Barney chatting to their person in the know over a couple pinot noirs saying the exact opposite......if you want an apology 42 from those two, cough up your proof and end this debate here and now.....other wise it wont be the first or last time a financial balance sheet needed tinkering to make all the numbers rosy come end of the year....

How is it possible to exceed the cap midway thru the year ?
That is the point people on here arnt getting, you have obviously never had to work with a budget, the only thing that counts is where you are at the end, not the middle.
And Swan42 has provided the information from The Swans treasurer, if people don't believe him fair enough but he has provided the info.

If people want to contact the Swans treasurer I am sure he will gladly email you the info you require, he loves a chat so feel free to let him know or pm myself or Swan42 your email and I will get him to contact you, he deals with the ATO so would be used to dealing with people who need some help understanding things :)

Is this the same treasurer who was involved in SD feeling the pinch financially a few years back MO.......and resulting in the likes of loyal SD legends in Kraks, Twomey, Robinson, Hildebrandt et al going else to fatten their coffers because their wasnt enough money in the budget?..........always easy to be on track to blow a budget midway thru any financial year before measures are taken to apply the brakes.......good job SD had the sense to rectify matters before another potentially embarassing financial disaster...the last one was embarassing enough for the club.....300K plus wasnt last time wasnt it?
