Congratulation to the Loins on their 2014 success and a big round of applause for the Perth football club for allowing a fig jam to realise his dream of holding a WAFL Premiership Cup. Well done Andrew!!!!!! :woohoo:

Great to read all your posts. Definitely one of the greatest days of my life. Like those blokes in 73 I found myself hugging a few (almost) strangers after the siren went. Nice work Chopper. We bloody well stuck it up em and it was great! My voice has still not recovered. loved the speeches after the game in the bar, and a great party full of great people (except for a few moronic East Perth supporters).

I was 18 when we won in '73, standing out on the concrete terracing on the wing with the "humans", watching guys like Fitzy, Ocker, Autumn leaves (Burton), Bayens, Feathers, Ross Smith, Blair, metro, Randy and that amazing enigma Keith Watt, but the best thing was that we beat West Perth. We played them 5 times that year and really didn't get that close to beating them but did the job on the day, even a bomb threat failed to clear our new clubrooms after the game. I'm so fortunate to have been around during these times, '73 was the 1st of 8 premierships I've been priviledged to see, 7 of then with my young bloke tagging along, just wonderful. 86 was 2nd favourite as we had come from the depths of financial despair a few years before and beat an big strong EF team chock full of talent that were the hottest of hot favourites and in the end they didn't take us seriously due to massive over confidence after destroying us in the 2nd semi with Bennet kicking 11. 3rd favourite was this one, once again overcoming great odds to get over the line for a memorable win. Now lets see if we can raise the bar again next year as I think the ferals will come back to the field (unless the WAFC shift the goal posts again), Claremont and Souths will be the big movers and expect Swans to have a more even season with some of those terrific colts adding great depth for them, Joondy wont be that bad 2 years in a row plus EF will be there about's as well, so a much more even comp lets hope, with the final 4 (5?) being decided on the last round.

some great memories of 73 there SS. I was sitting on the ledge above the players race door until one of the club officials made me get down. i was 16 at the time and if you've got the game on DVD you'll see a young bloke with blonde hair running across the ground with a huge maroon and gold flag after the final siren...that was me. ocker took it off me to do a lap around the oval and i found it later in a corner of the clubrooms. i took it home to our place in Freo and put it up on the roof to give the neighbours the chits. it stayed there for a week until the old man made me take it down. great times indeed.

once the dust settles and euphoria subsides...it'll be interesting to see who we lose over the summer to retirement, AFL draft, poached to other clubs etc as well as who we gain. maybe TD-L... i honestly can't see us losing too many as most are contracted and rumba et al have all said they'll go around again in 2015 but the offseason is a long time.

some of the young guys like Halligan, Deluca's, Joyce etc will also get another pre-season under the belt so reckon we'll be there abouts again next year.
