All the lefties would argue -- i can hear them -- that Russia would have supported China, but to be honest DD, Stalin never had the courage to fight Western troops. Whenever the Americans stood up to him, such as his plans to attack mainland Japan or re-annex parts of manchuria for Russia after the war, he always backed down. Even during the Berlin Crisis, which once again, he started, he never had the guts to shoot down the American planes.

I contacted 60 Minutes a few days ago and asked if they did a story on what would happen if the world was hit by a super virus? I seemed to recall such a story.

They confirmed there was this story in 2010 by Liam Bartlett. It targeted Africa as the likely source of the next super bug but same principals apply, it will originate from animals to humans.

It then went on to talk about the deadly Hendra virus that comes from fruit bats usually through horses then humans who come into contact with an infected horse.

At the end of the story they ask "What's next"? Now we know, it's happening now. I think life as we know it will change forever in terms of lifestyle, large gatherings, kids and adult education and one of the great freedoms we all enjoy, traveling overseas and interstate.

Be interesting to see how the Corona Virus stacks up against the yearly influenza virus....which claimed in 2017/18 - 79 400 deaths, hospitalized - 959 000 people and affected - 48.8 million people and then backed it up again in 2018-19 with - 61 200 deaths, hospitalized - 647 000 people and affected - 42.9 million folk....put my money on the annual influenza virus doing more damage then the Corona Virus...yet the latter has caused all this hysteria.

Hopefully whatever comes out of this hysteria is as DD rightly suggests people take necessary lifestyle changes and think of the bigger picture....vigilant proper hand hygiene, coughing/sneezing into ones own elbow and not into the environment or others direction...and staying at home when they have the lurgy instead of spreading it around to all n sundry in large gatherings or doing their daily activities...

but it will never happen because when you have paid good money to see a sporting event, concert etc, need to work to pay the bills, shop to feed the family or have no one to look after your kids when they have a cough, fever or cold so you send them to school or your boss won't pay you sick leave or you could lose your job by taking a sickie to look after your sick kid or even yourself...the virus will continue to do what it does, jump from one host to the next...and don't forget people can carry and spread the virus unknowingly despite displaying no obvious symptoms outwardly themselves...people won't change their habits because come end of the day we are all individual with our own agendas....e.g. the lady who went to the concert

The reality Freezin is this sort of scene is a real possibility here in Australia. Just tuned in to watch Italy's Serie A match between Udinese and Fiorentina in front of an empty stadium. Even more weird watching it with absolutely no crowd noise. Great thing is you can hear all the players and managers voices clearly, pity none of it is in English. Lol

The commentator just said this will be the case for at least the next month.
