Mate, check out the title of the thread, its about "the voice", you are free to start a thread about Robodebt or whatever else you want, but stick to the topic on this one. 

To me the underlying issue is about being Australian, not 3%, or immigrant, refugee and so on!

Everyone is covered in the document so why a need is there to put one group in separate to all the other groups.

Will it mean that the 3% will take on more responsibility for their collective issues and not seek to blame the 97% for the issues they themselves create. I think not!

It is not about being racist, white or anything else it is pure and simply being Australian!

Good point Grump, that goes to the heart of the issue for me, the whole concept of introducing race into the constitution and setting once group apart from another granting special legal rights in an abomination to fundamental democratic principles, it's mindboggling people even think this is a good idea, every other move we have made is to remove racial discrimination from laws, no other modern democracy enshrines such a thing, the French are supposed to be the model of modern liberal democratic rights, Equality, Fraternity and Liberty, everyone is equal, so much so that race is not even allowed to be counted in the national census.

Just saw Warren Mundine interviewed on ABC breakfast news, he's very much against the Voice, total waste of time and money, just going to repeat what's been done in the past. he said he, the groups he represents and other indigenous leaders and groups have no problems getting access to all levels of government, so why do we need another level of costly bureaucracy.

Now it looks like there might be a High Court challenge around the wording of the referendum question. Give me strength. What was Elbow thinking trying to placate so many groups with a vested interest?

The trouble is for Albanese is that he truly believes that this a good thing for the country and he is listening to folk who as you say have a vested interest in not only the process but the outcomes.

I don't have an issue with him and his beliefs, but they are his and are being driven but a number of people who actually refuse to see the reality of the world and the issues.

On the ABC one of the ministers was asked what the plans in place were if the referendum fails, nothing, nader plans what plans. My plan will be not step outside for a few weeks cos I reckon the loony left, right and middle will all got ape for their own reasons.

A thing that stood out to me from the start was why the rushed urgency to have the referendum so early in his term, there should of been a good three years of consultation and discussion and formulation of the entire concept before it went to a vote, we are about to vote on what is essentially the biggest change to our constitution in its 122 year history, that will create an unprecedented 4th arm of government, yet this thing is being rushed through liked a messed up train wreck with a very limited vested group having a direct line to the PM,  The only thing I can think of is it stinks of wanting to avoid scrutiny.

You are right about the result reaction, if Australia Day protests are anything to go by... stay inside!

West reporting WA polling at 60 % Yes, thats high for this early and a normally constitutionally conservative State like WA.

Id imagine it would get close to 80% in lefty Victoria if that's the case here.

The referendum should have been held in conjunction with the next fed election, would have saved heaps of money and would give both sides of the argument a full term of government to put forward their cases. I can see that anyone who supports the No vote will automatically be called a racist. The death of free speech.

Pretty sure the promise was to do just that, which is the normal way we hold most referendums you just hold them same time as election, now we are up for nearly 100 Mill on a one off event, probably sets the tone for the entire thing tbh , all about the money tree.

My view is they are rushing it, bugger all public consultation, no constitutional convention, just trying to push it through.
