yes but were there other underlying health issues which contributed to their problems?

we do need this data book to be chocked up on this one - we just can't see another scenario like this if we want our freedoms and the like and you'd know that in yourself I'd hesitate a guess anyway
It's just that I understand where it came from and that place is Wuhan - anything else is just what has seeped out of that festering boil and infected everything in it's path , just like a boil's pus germ
It has it's effects in different ways and different beliefs mate

No there weren't - which is why data and recording is just so important

I've heard story's of young fit people in the UK+Ireland.Who have had Covid-19 and been cured for months. With weird side effects.
A young adult male in the UK that can't drink beer or dairy products.A young lady in Ireland who's lungs function like a 65 year old lady.
Neurological brain problems are a bit above my pay grade.. But thats another weird side effect also.

On Sixty Minutes there was a story on a bloke from Canberra in his forties who was a fitness fanatic who did triathlons and had a clean bill of health contracted Covid and months later when he had supposedly recovered, could not walk 200 metres with out gasping for air,and felt like he'd been kicked in the ribs everytime he coughed, and a young women in her late thirties reported on the same program that she had lost all sense of taste and smell, and the best testimony was from Trumps good mate Greg Norman, who was probably another big Covid Denier but changed his tune when he was admitted into ICU twice and came out and said he had never been so crook in his life and stated that the disease was very ''REAL''.

and I'm glad someone has mentioned the longer term effects on far younger folks than the elderly who would have struggled to survive a bad influenza outbreak with their frailty
There are lingering health issues that are prevalent and let us not forget that in the very beginning it was a pack of absolute nut jobs who find it nice to eat endangered species of poor animals held captive in those revolting wet markets
This one is not politician in some state in a country - this one has other beginnings and bigger pictures than a state pollie

And Swan mate - I admire your restraint against a torrent of abuse there old son , good for you champion
Yes, well done swannie.  You’re handling the personal abuse a lot better than most here.

Thank you 58S and Southerner I have no problems with a robust discussion and people disagreeing with me.  However, there is a limit when it comes to personal abuse and that is why I have reported to the moderator one particular post that went well in excess of what I consider to be acceptable.

I shat my dacks McGowan needs another plan the total lock down BS is costing a fortune, goodness knows how pubs retail et al can survive with losses like this, people can’t have livelihoods wrecked just because our simpleton leader can’t come up with a better plan

Look at NSW far bigger population more travellers coming in but does not have a total lockdown at a drop of a hat. Give me the premier of NSW any day of the week over these lunatics.
Exactly and let's look at it from a global perspective.

Small businesses are shutting down in the hundreds of thousands because they can't afford to pay staff when they are closed during lockdowns.

In some countries lockdowns have gone on for months and months at a time.

In the UK there has been an estimated 2 million extra requests than average for food parcels from charity groups in 2020.

Even in Australia small businesses have closed and many are on the brink.

If lockdowns continue in 2021/2022 around the world how many more businesses will close. How many more people will be relying on welfare?

If there are fewer small businesses operating and less people working where does the tax revenue come from that sustains welfare. There will have to be tax increases for those lucky enough to still be working. How else are they going to pay for the increase in social security expenditure.

Meanwhile debt spirals out of control around the world. How are future generations going to pay that back? Will some countries even bother!

There has to be a more sustainable way of responding to covid than lockdowns for all.

I don't understand why we don't give people over the age of 65 or with health issues the option of staying home and locking down and having their requirements delivered to their door. That would allow the low risk age groups to continue working, living a normal life and contributing to society and the economy. Some older folks might say, no thanks, I'll take my chances out there and go to the footy or the movies or whatever. They can choose.
Spot on LH, we are being held to ransom by this inept Gov who have had 14 months now to come up with a covid game plan and all they can come up with is close the borders (for cases in other states & lockdown for WA cases).
Absolutely pathetic stuff.
I was in agreeance last year as this was the first time in 100 years we have had to deal with a pandemic and there was always going to be a bit of suck it and see but this Gov have done absolutely nothing towards being proactive in coming up with a plan other than lockdowns or border closures that effect everyone instead of just locking down those directly effected and their close contacts within the incubation period!

It might be unpalatable for some but we did have an election here in March, 2020.  By any metric  a significant majority of West Australians endorsed the steps taken by the McGowan government's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
42 and what do you think we should all just bow down to Emperor McGowan now and not question any of his lame reactive decisions?
He was very lucky he did not have any thing even close to resembling an opposition let alone one that raised the white flag before the first bounce in footy terminology!

42 can you also answer for me why the New South Welshman McGowan allowed the rich man run and owned Western Farce rugby (did he not support Labor's recent election campaign) and the basketball for that matter also owned by another rich old man were able to not only go ahead on Friday night but with no restrictions on crowd numbers whatsoever just hours after the NSWman announced a lockdown for the long weekend that then didnt allow the working class WAFL to be played at all, let alone in front of crowds???!!!
