Ask Gladys, you really just being a bit silly aren't you, NSW has had the same issues we have and managed them pretty well the same way but given the level of disdain you have for McGoo I should not expect anything different!

No they have not, they manage to keep their economy open and use contact racing to good effect now there are more efficient apps and other contact registers in place that were not in place or far less reliable in the early stages. They have evolved, our government has not.

Yes they have managed them well, WITHOUT GOING INTO SNAP LOCKDOWNS.
mmm north shore, perhaps you forgot that!
Yep they shut down North Shore, not the whole fucking city. That would be the same as an outbreak occurring in Mandurah. Just shut down Mandurah Peel region not the whole metro area.

Yes I'm not exactly sure NSW should be held up as a shining light of Covid management after the Ruby Princess fiasco, nursing homes outbreaks, major clusters after crowds allowed to go en masse to beaches like Bondi and so on....but I do think Dear Leader McGoo should be called out for this latest lockdown which is as a direct result of our hospitals not being able to cope with an outbreak. Two or three infections should not be cause for an entire metro area to go into lockdown...that is bullshit.

BC as McGoo used several times today, that was 13/14 months ago. Every Premier and health Minister was a rookie when it came to Covid. Yes NSW made mistakes in the beginning but now they are leaving McGowan's one trick pony approach in their wake.

This a constantly evolving thing and those who are smart work out a way to limit the outbreak of Covid without shutting down the whole economy.

McGoo is as stubborn as they come and he just won't listen to any other way. As soon as someone applies the heat he flicks them off like he did today with that female journalist which was disgraceful and she just highlighted his inability to see it any other way.

those two interstate leaders have made some serious mistakes and there's been just so many evaders & unlawful acts there
As far as the shutting down thing goes - for one Sydney has been made too hard to do that by it's development sprawl which is the true reason behind no total locks - it just cannot be done and that's what has been admitted a few times
Not a chance in hell of being the icon of tactics now that would be a laughing stock - and there's been lots of breached quarantines and they still occur
But hey when Victoria slipped into chaos guess what happened at that border

Lockdown lifted but with restrictions, most relevant to this site is that community sport and training can recommence but without spectators. Really??  1500 to 2000 punters in an open air venue is a big threat? Why not allow spectators in the outer where spacing can be maintained and close the indoor bars/function rooms. Grandstands could be used with every second or third seat available. It aint rocket science.
SS the fuhrer said he would update the crowd capacity for the western derby by Friday, so hopefully we can go to the WAFL too. If not its good to have streaming available these days

I shat my dacks McGowan needs another plan the total lock down BS is costing a fortune, goodness knows how pubs retail et al can survive with losses like this, people can’t have livelihoods wrecked just because our simpleton leader can’t come up with a better plan

Look at NSW far bigger population more travellers coming in but does not have a total lockdown at a drop of a hat. Give me the premier of NSW any day of the week over these lunatics.
Exactly and let's look at it from a global perspective.

Small businesses are shutting down in the hundreds of thousands because they can't afford to pay staff when they are closed during lockdowns.

In some countries lockdowns have gone on for months and months at a time.

In the UK there has been an estimated 2 million extra requests than average for food parcels from charity groups in 2020.

Even in Australia small businesses have closed and many are on the brink.

If lockdowns continue in 2021/2022 around the world how many more businesses will close. How many more people will be relying on welfare?

If there are fewer small businesses operating and less people working where does the tax revenue come from that sustains welfare. There will have to be tax increases for those lucky enough to still be working. How else are they going to pay for the increase in social security expenditure.

Meanwhile debt spirals out of control around the world. How are future generations going to pay that back? Will some countries even bother!

There has to be a more sustainable way of responding to covid than lockdowns for all.

I don't understand why we don't give people over the age of 65 or with health issues the option of staying home and locking down and having their requirements delivered to their door. That would allow the low risk age groups to continue working, living a normal life and contributing to society and the economy. Some older folks might say, no thanks, I'll take my chances out there and go to the footy or the movies or whatever. They can choose.
Spot on LH, we are being held to ransom by this inept Gov who have had 14 months now to come up with a covid game plan and all they can come up with is close the borders (for cases in other states & lockdown for WA cases).
Absolutely pathetic stuff.
I was in agreeance last year as this was the first time in 100 years we have had to deal with a pandemic and there was always going to be a bit of suck it and see but this Gov have done absolutely nothing towards being proactive in coming up with a plan other than lockdowns or border closures that effect everyone instead of just locking down those directly effected and their close contacts within the incubation period!

Until a significant percentage of the population has been vaccinated,i find these attacks on McGowan quite mind boggling, and alot of people here should get a reality check and be in India where they are holding human bonfires, and using primitive looking oxygen ventillators in the back of cars which are connected to oxygen tanks that look as if they pre-date the Prussian war,so lets be a little patient as we appear to be in the home straight of a return to some sought of normality.
