I think it's way over the top and I've witnessed and experienced paranoia in the community. These measures have to be weighed up against the cost of mental health and the economy. I think fair enough keep the borders closed and maintain the forced isolation laws for those returning from overseas and interstate but let's get back to work and back to living within our own borders.

I think your question has started to be answered DD with restrictions on numbers gathering lifted to 10 both indoors and outside from tomorrow. A gradual easing is the way to go imo.

Thanks for getting this topic back on topic BC. That’s an encouraging sign and Coles ditching the queuing and head count. But don’t like what I read Scomo has come out with. Social distancing will remain until there is a vaccine. I reckon that’s way over cautious. So is he saying we can’t go to the football or fly if it takes 18 months to find a vaccine? Farrrk that I’ll be joining the protestors if that’s the case.

Helps to clarify your cynicism but not much else. How can sending aid be any of those things?

Yes exactly. Restrictions to be eased gradually is definitely the best option. WA having about 550 cases in total and currently have 15 to 20 hospital admissions. Hopefully our relatively low numbering stays that way. The state government would be thinking the same. It is a balancing act for everyone.
I believe The Queensland state government will be easing some restrictions sometime this week also.

Now that I have my travel permit i ventured down from York to the metro area to see a new client and stopped in at Midlandgate shops on the way home, both Coles and K mart had queuing, only 10 or 15 long so no biggy. I also noticed very long queues at Bunnings, about 100m long so I gave that joint a miss. As BC mentioned the public gathering numbers are easing and if the infection rates stay around zero they will ease further. Qld has allowed non essential shops like clothing, shoes and the like to open over there so i expect we wont be far behind.

Yep...keep the borders closed and mandatory 14 day isolation for any returning residents and I can see us getting back to something approaching normality over the next few months. I don't think we'll get completely back to normal with footy and so on until a vaccine has been found and we're all immunised which probably won't happen until next year.

I just registered for the CovidSafe app. I know some might have security concerns but if it's good enough for the President of the Australian Law Society to be comfortable with the safeguards then it's good enough for me...plus the use of data will be legislated at the next sitting in May.

I'm in too.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Yep, Keep borders closed, and keep regional restrictions in for a while longer.

Apart from that we should be all good to go..

I went up to farmer jacks Claremont on Saturday it was mental packed - The crazyiness of seeing a packed supermarket yet a cafe cant open for a cuppa cant go on for much longer.
