And I might add being paid 7 figures pa to achieve fark all as well. Hopefully the purple scum pay the cleaners at Freo Oval just as well having to continually wipe the dust from that trophy cabinet down there!!

Bc mate signing him was mugsville

let's just say we wouldn't have got to a GF full stop without Lyon...notwithstanding it was a game we should have won based on stats but that's footy I guess and also shows the class of the Hawks

Let the rebuild begin. It's been an enjoyable ride the past 3 or 4 years but it's pretty obvious where we are at. There's half a dozen players at least who aren't going to get any better so it's time to blood the youngsters and get games into them. If we finish bottom 8 so be it. We haven't had any decent draft picks for a while now so it might be a case of two steps back to go 4 or 5 steps forward into the future. Ross Lyon has a secure contract for the next 4 or 5 years so he doesn't need to worry about the axe hanging over his head. He will be judged on how he develops the list from here forward and the brand of football he goes forward with.

I have only watched a limited amount of both Dockers games but it appears to me that they have made a decision to go away from their ultra defensive game plan as they have realised that this will not win them a flag. They have conceded over 100 points in both games which would have been unheard of in previous years under Lyon. They did score 100 points themselves last night but I get the feeling that the players are struggling to adapt to the new more attacking mindset and the other teams are taking advantage. One stat that Lyon mentioned was that Gold Coast went into their forward 50 ten times in the 2nd quarter of the game and scored every time they went in ( 7 goals 3). Also the Dockers have appeared to lack leg speed in both games so maybe it is time to bite the bullet and give Conor Blakely and other youngsters an extended go. Langdon did OK I thought last night. Darcy Tucker their draft pick from last year impressed me up at Bassendean yesterday as well.

Signing of Lyon for 5 year's could be looked back on in the same boat as McLeod, croad,Waterhouse, tarrant...... well u get the picture.

The party (ended early) was about 3 yrs ago. Yep this will go down as another one of their great moves, I would be very surprised if he sees/lasts the contract out, regardless of what happens , he will be walking away a very rich man in deed.

This is only hypothetical but if Essendon finishes on the bottom and if Cale Hooker leaves the Bombers then it is very likely they will have picks 1 and 2 in this years draft.

What would it take for the Dockers to get both these picks????

Would we look at the possibility of trading Nat Fyfe. Fyfe and our second round pick for picks 1 and 2 and possibly Zach Merrett.

This would give the Dockers three picks in the first round of the draft.

I'm by no means suggesting that Fyfe is past his best and surplus to requirements but I still think it is something that at least should be discussed or thought about.
