There it is. That is and has been our problem for nearly 40 years.
Looking back instead of looking forward.
This thread is about our upcoming season opener vs West Perth, not anything to do with 1996/97. That has been done to death over the years. Consigned to the history books.

Get with the current programme guys. This is 2016 and we should all be thinking positively about where the club is going from now. Please leave the nostalgia in the history books for now.

I am excited about our prospects in 2016 but trying to keep a lid on it. I believe that we have the best opportunity in a long time to put this club back where it belongs, in a position as a power club in the competition. Only time will tell but we have a formula this season that we haven't had for a long time.

Will it be good enough? We will know soon enough. Yes, early wins are a must but above all we must remain positive and focussed.

Grassy have a look at the title of the thread.
I think we have a chance on the weekend.
Can't wait to see the side.
Turn up to play and you never know.
I was interested to read the comments from the Coach on the Club facebook page.
I agree Smokester, some good things to look forward to.
Take a look at the list on the PFC website.
Lot of blokes missing that we thought were still there.

GO DEES.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!
I shot the fukin sherriff!!!!

Yeah I think we've recruited to our needs for a change our midfield is very strong, WP might slip a bit this year they are cherry ripe for the picking if we are good enough.

I agree West Perth are there for the taking although in saying that i'd feel more comfortable going up there had they won last week.
Not sure getting WP on the rebound on there home deck will be an easy asignment.

Im curious to see how our backline holds up this week and in the next month or so games, could be the deciding factor on how well we go this season.
Im also curious to see how our forward line functions and how productive it will be.
Like everyone else i think our midfield is where our strength will be.

At this stage id be tipping WP (only because its on there home deck) but not by much.

I listened to the Arthur maskos interview on wafl and he said it was good experience for his younger players to come up against the big bodies of Perth in the scratch match. This is something that will make us more competitive this year in addition to the experience we have added and gives us a real chance against wp on Saturday!

Our forward line and midfield on paper looks impressive. I am still out on our backline. Hopefully zucca can marshall Johnson and latch Millar et all. We have to win this game it really can't be underestimated what a win will give to the younger guys. Wp will come out hard and we need to be ready for it.

Perth by 2 points :woohoo:

I concur with thoughts on here that the backline may be the key this year. I would like to see Zuccs, Latch and Johnston backed up by Belly and outside runners in Sinclair and Wilkins.
I have no worries with the midfield..it will be our great strength IMO. And the forward line will be different to what we have had for so long.. a key target with small forwards feeding off the crumbs. That should bring Stacky and Walley etc plenty of opportunities... My only concern here is who will line up at CHF.
West Perth will be fired up. They do not rate us at all and that may be their Achilles heal. I think we will lineup pretty well and will win a close tough encounter. But we must bring the A game and remain focussed for 120 minutes.
