Well technically it's our round one but regardless it's good to have the footy back.

West Perth were outplayed by a very determined and quick South Fremantle side last week. I'm tipping they are going to come out all guns blazing especially being it's their first game at home.

Our preseason has been solid with some good recruiting being done and some good hitouts against the Falcons and Bulldogs.

Up the Demons.

I hate going to Joondalup but that probably has a lot to do with Perth always loosing there. I thought about not going but don't think i will be able to keep away.
Looking forward to seeing all recruits and to see how Trop and Blue handle the new expectations. I am also expecting to see improvement in Latch and Johnston down back. I really rated Jarrad Bell last year and from what i hear of the young lad who kicked a couple in the PSA premiership last year - well he should be worth a look.
We all loved Stacky in 2013 since then very disappointing but I am still holding out some hope.
Irons, White, Jacobs and Sinclair to be at there best would be great.
Zucchini with a full season would be great.
Eyers without the pressure of being number 1 ruck and with 4 years under his belt now should be better for it.
Our wing man from Swans ( sorry name forgotten) will hopefully be back to his best after getting back into the system last year.
i reckon we have to lock the ball into the forward line longer than the last 5 years.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Yes the time for talk is over.
WP will be dangerous, I doubt they were expecting that.
They do not rate our Club so they will be expecting 4 points.
Then we have Claremont, not an easy start to the season but we have to play everybody sometime.
GO DEES..

I agree with you DF, I would like the Perth players to know this too.

TBH I don't think anyone rates us. The highest we were tipped this year to finish was sixth. That was done by Ross Lewis.

Most had us 7th to 9th.

This should be used as motivation.

Thats a pretty honest assessment.
We are the worst performed club of the past 30 years or so.
We have recruited well in the past,we have gone into new seasons with hope only to get the usual let downs.

As DF said the time for talk is over.

For mine our recruits should perform well, its our second and third tier players that need to take the next step.

As for West Perth not rating us,why should they?

Early wins are crucial and will set up our season if we are to play finals.
I know flags are not won in April but its so important we hit the ground running and get early wins on the board.

A few early losses and season could be gone.
Lack of confidence could set in.
Season over like every other year.
We must rack up early wins.

I seem to remember the PFC having a reasonable record at Joondalup over the years so you might sneak a close game.

I remember that day, too. We finished off 96 very well, including a 100 point flogging of Subi at Lathlain if memory serves me right. Surely Tractor played well in those conditions at Joondalup?

A couple of years later I remember one of the more depressing times I've had at the footy. Was it 135 points? Shocked I haven't repressed that day in my unconscious.

Looking forward to seeing the lineup for Saturday. Will wait to comment then. But the key at Joondalup has always been the wind. Have it in the first quarter and use it well and that's a big help.

I was always wondered how close we might have gone in 97 if we'd had a few players from 96 like Dan Bandy stick around.
