mate if you had the choice of recruiting a Leon Davis or an Aiden Tropiano most folk here would of gone for Neon......especially with his footy CV......

Got down to training tonight to see the first intra-club match. I was surprised at the number of members and supporters who were there for the Friday night sundowner and to watch proceedings on the ground. Most were diehard Perth supporters but for a team whom everybody suggests will not win a game or at least will fill 9th place there are still plenty who try to keep the faith. Good to see.

A couple of standouts for me were (a), the apparent fitness of all the players. Very little flab to be seen and all appear in good shape for this time of the year. It remains to see whether they can all play.
And (b), a lot of new faces on the track. Too many to try and follow and check where they have come from but I do suspect that there are some ammos looking for a spot on the final squad. But there were some good types including some talls. But again, can they play?

There were 14 players who did not play in the game. All would be in our first 22 IMHO. The game was very fast and physical with some good efforts by several new players including two opposing ruckmen named Ironmonger and Wallis who both look likely prospects. I also liked the efforts of Garlett in the forward line.

Stacky has been training this week but was absent to attend the Indigenous All-Stars game tonight. Florio played so he is still on board. I believe that Joel Leeson has gone.

I heard from a reliable source that Hodgey is in some doubt to play footy again. Still has a problem with his arm which he favoured when kicking a ball around on the sidelines. That would be a huge tragedy for him and the club. I have had him pencilled in as a future captain for some time since Jarman commented on his leadership qualities. Let's hope there will be a better outcome for him.

Did Eyres play?
Therefore these ruck men have a go against him?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

Smokey i said in an earlier post that garlett was about ready to step up and by the sounds of it he may be doing just that.....and big wallis is training with us is he.......gee freeze wont be happy with that. Hopefully this one plays more league time than the other 200cm ruckman we got from slime street  hodge injured his arm nearly 12 months ago now, if it aint right prob never will be!

Eyres was one of the group that did not play. Neither did Tropo, Jarrad Moreton, Bateman, White,Collard, Stack, Billings, Power, Hodge, Irons, O'Sullivan.
From what I heard Lucifer, sadly the outlook for Hodgey is a bit grim. I think that Lecras had a broken arm which was pretty bad and took a while to come good so let's hope for the best outcome for Hodgey.
Wallis and Ironmonger did the bulk of the ruck work opposing each other. They are both a good size and they seem to know how to play. Perhaps with Eyres we may be OK in the ruck. Only time will tell.
The word is that they intend to try and turn Power into a CHF. The coach should be a good mentor in that exercise. But Power can also handle the ruckwork so for a change we may not be too short on talls as there are one or two others in the 194 to 196 range.
I don't want to put too much of a positive slant on it at this stage but perhaps at least there will be big changes so who knows what will happen?

Smokey this is what i posted over 2 months ago...it didnt get 1 comment.

On another note i heard a whisper tonight that Hodgey's arm has not mended properly and it still may be a problem and that he is no guarentee to play,he may need another operation.
If you have a look at the photos of him at pre-season his arm is still in a plaster, how longs that been on for??
Anyway the guy that told me is pretty sure what he said is correct, time will tell i suppose.

I heard the same thing 30+. In fact my source said it is likely that he may not play again at all. That is tragic if that is the outcome. He looked like a cripple on the track tonight. Just kicked a footy around and did not use his left arm at all.
Lecras wears an arm guard so fingers crossed at some stage Hodgey can play with one too.

I wonder if players will be made to drop and do 10 push ups if their kicks miss the target like they have been doing at pre-season training?

At least they'll have strong upper bodies from all the push ups haha

Would one of those ruckman be Richard Wallis form Eat Fremantle? He definitely has some size about him, 199cm and 102 kg's.

Can anyone tell us a little but more about him and perhaps Ironmonger. Who is he? where has he come from?

Cheers in advance :)

Mr AFL. I can't find anything on Ironmonger but he did look the part.
Richard Wallis is from East Fremantle. Listed at 199/102 age 21 and has not yet played a league game so low points if any. He also looks like he can play.
Only time will tell but both are promising IMO
