Ark Royal, true that EF has lost more than it's fair share to the draft, but clubs do get compensated with draft money, so not too sure what EF has done with theirs....certainly aint going on ground maintenance that's for sure!!

the drought is down to the clubs management making some piss poor decisions with coaches(Spalding, Lester-Smith & Dunbar :pinch: ), who in turn pissed a lot of decent players off and recruited shite ones instead.....bar Young and Weller....get the management right and hopefully the rest will follow.....good leadership is always the key to success and more importantly longevity of success.....which to me has been Perth's downfall.......and EF too....though Kelly as CEO has moved the club forward......really do think Malaxos has taken the players/club as far as he can TBH.....

1 This is the point I am making: Subiaco have been lucky with their zone and the draft since 1987
2 The money is there entitlement because they were booted out of their ground
3 I am not counting Mick Rea -- he was a Victorian recruited from WP
4 This is why I have not mentioned the forwards Subi has imported by the truck loads to cover for not having Smith or Breman
5 Subi has been well -run, had a pretty good zone and some cash -- from Buckenera and Western Underwriters
6 we all know that EF have lost many to the draft, which we has led to your premiership drought
7 but EF should not have voted for the Eagles to come into existence, should they?

Its pretty basic what we need and right now we just need the right people that can do it,it's not rocket science!!

The shortlist should have been drawn up with interviews under way you would think.
Lets sit back and see how long this takes,we generally don't move real quick with these coaching appointments.

Freezin: you made some really interesting points, particularly about some of your coaches. On Malaxos, how long has he been at the club? Do you think the squad is better than its current position? It is true that EF and CL have received monies for the players, but the draft has definitely affected both clubs since 1987. I have finely convinced one of my EF friends that it is better not to have players drafted for this reason. Both clubs have been hit hard by the alignment too. Happily, once again, Subiaco has been largely unaffected

Big game against WP this week?

ArkRoyal wrote: Mr AFL-- thanks for some interesting points

just a couple of remarks:

1 if players play the odd good game and then more or less struggle, it suggests they are not good enough
2 I think all clubs would have such players, few of them would play 100 games at any club

That also being the case but my main point here is that the development at Perth has not been good for a very long time. More players than we have had should have come through. Not saying that every kid would have made it but over the last 10-15 years I would have thought that with good development we would of seen five maybe six players come through in that time. I know that this is also influenced by the quality of the kids in your catchment area at the time but when you think about it five or six players over 15 years isn't really a lot when you consider the amount of players that would go through a WAFL club during this time.

ArkRoyal wrote: 3 we agree that good solid footballers are scarce -- you did a good analysis of Perth's forward line; Let us compare it to Subiaco's, if I may.
4 since 1980, we have had two (2) full forwards -- Breman and Smith
5 two -- not many, but it is two more than Perth have had and explains the difference between the clubs; both had natural ability it was not taught by Subi
6 Subi were also lucky because Smith got injured and could play for us and not in the AFL.
7 As you pointed out, when Perth has had more ability, as under Blackwell, it made the finals
8 I think a new coach can make a difference at Perth, but in the end, he is a victim of whether his players can kick, mark, hand ball and so on, better than the opposition
9 I think back to John Todd, whom in his final stint at SD, won one game for the season. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.
10 Hopefully, the wheel will turn for the PFC soon

Interviews should well and truely be under way.
I hope its the right appointment because i fear if its not plenty of supporters will walk at seasons end and you wont get them back!!
We have already lost some as this season has rolled along at the usual disappointing rate.

Any rumours floating around at yesterdays game?

Agree 30 plus, members have been walking for years and some staunch members that in years gone by have defended the club as much as they could have finally cracked it and had enough.

Whoever gets the job they need to be the right person for the job and given as much support through recruits and assistants that they need. Don't go out and recruit for the sake of recruiting, the coach should be asked who he wants and which positions he sees as a priority heading into 2015 and beyond.

Any sightings of any potential applicants on the weekend? I am amazed at the lack of names thrown up as being in the mix. Sounds like waterman and Harvey have withdrawn, apart from that the only applicants I've heard of are Guerra and Spalding. Surely someone out there knows more?
