Yes. He has to. The board has made two horrible calls in the last couple of appointments.

Agree 100% Super Dude, Marty must be given control of the process.
But has the Board agreed to allow that to happen?
Or will the Football Director, Director & former Football Manager & the Football Manager have total control of the process.

IMHO the Club needs to give Marty the control and they need to follow his recommendation.

My whole concern is that the Board will totally control the process.
I do understand that they need to approve the appointment but they need a Football person in there controlling the process. Marty is the best person at the Club to do that.

Don't forget the WAFC will have someone in the room again. Let's hope he doesn't snooze through it like he did last time.

The club will be under the microscope in this process as much as the candidates. They had better get it right or else they will become even firmer favourites to disappear as the inevitable 8 team comp rears its ugly head as the next want of the WAFC and the two AFL clubs.

For that reason I reckon those that may have made their preferences known in the past will have to steer clear of this one.

Colin Lofts has been at the last few games and other past players from the70's. I hope that's a sign they are getting involved.

DD, I agree with you that Trevor Williams is not the worst coach going around. Just because he coached Peel to a wooden spoon doesn't really mean anything. It all comes down to having the cattle. I suspect that if he had coached the teams that Webb and Watters coached in the WAFL, he too would have won a premiership. It's the same with us currently. Injuries have been a curse all year. If Williams had Busher, Cale Morton, Risol, Billings, Leeson and Irons in the last 2 weeks I'm sure our performances would have been a lot better. There are too many players getting a game right now who aren't league footballers. They are getting games out of necessity. You can add Bevan and Mitch Morton as 2 more who will be missing against Swans.

Having said that we still need to go for a Harvey, Dimmer or Harris if possible and back the coach up with good recruits.

Spot on Cesspit. In fact I would find it hard to name a Peel coach who hasn't won a wooden spoon. He has blooded a few players, not all I agree with but he needs to give blokes a crack to show their worth. Cameron Jones is one who shows a bit of potential as a tall defender. Out of interest, what do supporters think of Joel Kalaczic (excuse my spelling). I think he's getting better each week. I've probably got a bit of biased towards left footers.

Like the look of Dobson too in the magoos. Another lefty.

DD wrote: [quote="Mr AFL" post=harris is interested. I just want to see the best person for the job appointed.

If we did go with an untried senior coach (which I hope we don't) then I wouldn't mind if it was Steven Armstrong.

Ross McQueen is someone at the Tigers that has coached colts and reserves premierships.

No thanks MR AFL. Army is always welcome back of course but must serve a full apprenticeship under a senior coach first.[/quote]

I want someone with experience as well DD that's why I said if for some reason we couldn't get a coach with experience and went down the untried coach path then my pick of the untried coaches out there atm that have been mentioned would be Army.

Do you mean Doncon DD?

Cameron Jones hasn't set the world on fire in his first two games. But as a young tall and with our season done and dusted I don't see the harm in giving him another 2-3 games. He would have then played 4-5 games in a row and you can then look back an assess how he improved from game one to game five and whether or not he is worth keeping heading into 2015.

Joel Kalajzic probably was unlucky to have not gotten 2-3 games earlier in the year. Another one that looks promising but will need to have a block of games to see where he is at.

Let these young blokes that you think might be around the club for the next 4-6 years have some games now. Push some colts up to the reserves (we have been doing this over the last couple of weeks) and push some reserve players up to the league team and give them a half decent run at it.

Five games to go until we are done for another season. What's the harm in giving some players 3-4 games. It might mean that we find someone that we didn't know we had?

All said and done there's more to be gained here than lost by giving games to some of the kids.

In regards to potential coaches, has anyone considered Andy Collins. Has now coached the last two winners of the Foxtel Cup. West Adelaide in 2013 and Williamstwon this year.
