I think right now we sit where we deserve to be. From here its a question of whether we can win more games than those below us on the ladder. Yes where do these clubs find the Cary's, Blakely, Yarrans, Delahunty etc....??

Spot on DD, no midfield class, which worries me this week because

Spot on DD, no midfield class, which worries me this week because EF seem to have plenty of it. No Hodge or Bateman has certainly put a big dent in our midfield. At this stage there is White and then daylight to our next midfielder.
I think it's time for Brookes and Tim Hunt to get a try. Boyle, Hug and Florio are all well under par.

I would put Rogers in the same category as Barry Kimberley & John Clarkson as the best recruit we have ever picked up from Perth that's how highly I rate him!

Yep, I saw plenty of times what he could do with a football and to an opposition player while in a Perth jumper. I reckon you Swans boys must look at each other at the footy and say how on earth did Perth let this bloke go?

Believe it or not DD myself & Swandog where saying exactly that after the game on Saturday ..Rogie is a ripper!

30 Plus, I agree with you about Kimberley. A dual premiership player in the 1980's Swans side in nothing to sneeze at, but I thought he was just an average player for us from '79 to '82. He used to fumble a lot and didn't seem to be improving at all. I remember thinking that we had got the better end of the deal with the swap of Ross Fitzgerald to Perth. Kimberley certainly proved me wrong.

I dont doubt that in a weaker wafl comp Rogers is not a bad pickup but please he wouldnt carry Barry Kimberleys bags to a game, comeon!!
Kimberly Premiership player in a tough comp,Rogers would have struggled to get a ressies game in that era!!!!

Barry Kimberly was a much much tougher hard at it and better player than Rogers, end of story.

Even Clarko was a better footballer and for what its worth Elari has been a better pick up for you guys than Rogers.

Refresh my memory here didnt Rogers get dropped from your team for your 1st semi final game last season against East Perth???
I'm Pretty sure he did.

Agree with you Cesspit, time for Brookes or Tim Hunt to be given a go. East Freo's midfield absolutely smashed us in that pre-season game. They've got plenty to rotate through there. And for fk sakes can some please play on Rory O'Brien for once against EF!

Disagree re Rogers 30plus in your comparison to Kimbers and Clarko. Rogers would still only be 22 or 23 with his best football in front of him. I reckon AFL clubs, especiallythe llocal ones, would be mad not to at least put him on their rookie list. I see a lot of footballers at Fremantlethat w ould be no more than 70kg wringing wet and hence get rag dolled and pushed out of the contest far too easily and some of them struggle to kick the football 40m.

Agree Cesspit Kimbers was a shadow of our former champion rovers before him but as often is the case a great coach can get the best out of a footballer and SD were like a team of class ruck rovers that Kimbers fitted into beautifully as the hard nut who could run til the cows came home.

Hes 24 this year,i doubt whether an Afl club would look at him but sillier things have happened.

The 80's was a tough gig in the WAFL full of talent, its all about opinions and i reckon Rogers wouldnt have been in Swans best 25 to 30 back then.
My personal opinion is he hasnt from what ive seen of him used his build to his advantage.
Saying he is better than Kimbers is insane i reckon.

I'm basing my comments on the quote from BH that Rogers is the best recruit Swans have ever had out of Perth, over the top comment in my opinion.
From what ive seen of both players i know who i would have in my team.

Dazzler surely Hunt as a 10 point player would have had a league game by now only if for the fact to see if hes up to it.
I'm stuffed if i can work it out.

Our midfield is a huge weakness for us and he is a 10 point midfielder playing ressies, the mind boggles.

30+ it begs question then if he is not good enough why was he recruited.
Why are we giving the responsibility of recruiting to inept people?
Surely someone at the club knows what a footballer looks like!!!

I thought BH said he rated him up there with Kimbers and Clarko as best recruits to come from Perth.? Anyway always good to have these debates, it's what we love about footy. Out of interest who would you rate as the best recruit to come from Swans to Perth?

Ross Fitzgerald probably the most accomplished player I can think of and Drew Cornelius gave his all for the PFC though he butchered the ball a bit. I think Swans are well in front.

Tim Hunt has averaged 20.5 disposals per game, only 12 on the weekend in the Ressies, got named 5th Best Player. Hasn't been named in the best any other week, who will drop out of League?

I like Boyle, I think he is one midfielder with a bit of pace and grunt and usually uses the ball pretty well. I'd like to see him used more in the midfield.
