I see quite a few young names from Canning Vale on our Colts list. The flow of youngsters from our revised junior zones has begun. Let's hope that we see a greater depth of young talent grow in the future that will grow in strength each year.
A lot of work still to be done in our zones.

We've had Canning Vale for a while but it's a curious club on the border between three zones so players go from there can go to EF, SF and P depending on which side of the street they live on. Colts lad Elijah Scoble comes from CV and he is developing into a fantastic key defender and it'll be no surprise to see this lad get drafted in 2023. The real excitement for PFC is in Byford and Southern River but it'll take time. The travesty of the recent WAFC zone changes is that they left the country zones untouched.

Amazing to think the Avon Footy comp has the same amount of clubs as EF country zone of the GNFL....yet probably half its population...besides equality ..is it quantity or quality the Perth fans are seeking here?

Has Perth got the Central Midlands coastal area? I know the likes of Tunbridge, O'Meara and Leeston came from around that region.
Add those 5 teams to the Avon comp and on paper Perth have 12 teams in their country zone compared to EF 7, yet still probably only 3/4 the population of EF zone....not sure what the WAFL breaks it down on in search of equality......number of clubs or total population?

Dazz, that is what worries me. SF and EF are probably trying to poach players from players from our side of the lines.  Have heard at least one club has been benching the most promising players in their Colts. We have to be alert and put in the hard yards. If we can turn our club into a destination club then the competition will become more even.

Considering a players residential address is set in stone and the only identifying criteria for which WAFL  club a kid is tied to, not sure how EF or SF can poach players.....are you guys worried an EF or SF supporting Grandma/dad is pulling a fast one on the sly?

I think the Canning Vale players on Perth's colts list were all aligned to Perth prior to the zone change. Canning Vale JFC is an East Fremantle aligned club but have players from EF, SF and Perth zones. The talented players are sent to the development program of the WAFL club that the player is zoned to, so not sure how any poaching can occur.

That would be a neat trick Freez. I never thought of that. Is that what EF do?

Re the Zones: This is why I have been saying for years that the zones need to align with public High School zones (not suburbs). My understanding as it is now you could have  3 kids all going to the same school but aligned with 3 different clubs depending on which side of the road they live. This creates problems.  How often have we seen players leave a club to join their mates (often high school mates).
