Just listened. Hats off to 91.3. PG - didn't come across as a great communicator to me - but we will see.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

You are a bit harsh mate he’s a coach not a used car salesman. Andrew Jarman was both. Justin Longmuir comes across as uncomfortable and awkward when interviewed but he seems to be able to get his message across when it comes to coaching.

Thanks for the link DD. Some interesting points in that interview:
- He is speaking with a couple of potential assistant coaches.
- The development process will depend on how hard the players are prepared to work and how hungry they are.
- He has spoken with some players in Vic.... VFL but also Ovens/Murray
- He wants to be with a club that is hungry for success.
- Yes, he may not be the smoothest talker but he has a history of getting his message across and that is crucial IMO..

He rarely did the press at Subi, especially during games. As DD said, it is not the end of the world.

I thought the interview was okay.
Talk of assistant coaches is good news.
Seems like we may see some new faces around the huddles.
As I have said before our football department needs a full clean out.
We have a lot of dead wood that get to talk to the players.
From a playing perspective the players are in for a reality check.
So expect to seem some exits, but also some core players that will welcome the new discipline.
It won't necessarily happen immediately, but expect some improvement.

I was impressed. Liked his explanation for "why Perth?". Sounds like a character, running a heptathlon at 37 and winning a cricket premiership at CBC. No outlandish predictions. This sounds like the guy to build standards and a winning culture that we've lost over the past 40 years as we've slipped further and further behind everyone else in the comp. Players will be key. But getting players and player managers to speak with the PFC is going to be a heap easier with blokes with footy cred like Peter German and Troy Cook in the conversation. I like what I heard in that interview.

I don't give a toss about how he communicates with the press. It's how he connects and communicates with the players that matters.

Totally agree Dazz. I was encouraged very much by what he said. Exactly what I expected and prayed for.
One aspect that I think was crucial: he intends that Perth should become a "destination" club for new recruits just as Subiaco have been for a couple of decades. I don't expect that to happen overnight but his appointment will be the catalyst for all future  recruiting dealings.

Yes bringing in new assistant coaches he knows is key that he has his people around him. I also liked that he had a soft spot for Perth from the time he coached Subiaco before and he is excited about the challenge to turn things around on the field. And he won’t be swayed by any negative feedback on existing players strengths. Everyone will start with a clean slate and he’ll judge them on what he sees, not others opinions.

I stumbled across another interview with Peter
German about taking on the coaching role with
PFC. It was from mid-September so doesn't talk
much about the current squad as he hadn't
arrived at that stage, but he talks about his plans
for the game style. In particular, taking the game
on through the corridor and taking risks - and
less chip chip hold and fear of turning it over.
