Smokey, I don't know the details of the appointment, but I hope it is a full time appointment.
That would not come cheap but would at least show the extent of the commitment of the Club.
This could well be the most important coaching decision since the Club's decision to appoint Atwell in 1966.

Like DF - I would be spewing if Armstrong got the Ressies gig. Terrible terrible communicator. No presence either. Love Maynes love of the club - will be interesting what happens to him.

Club must give more updates, starting with showing us 2 or 3 architectural designs of the new club rooms - the funds available to build the thing and an explanation of what the hold up is.

During the season fortnightly updates should be the standard, not just photos of results and who the best players were. One week Head Coach, Next week President, Week after Head of Footy department (talking about our zone, our future players, Colts and Ressies), Week after special interest talk (stand redevelopment, past player, draft hopeful etc) then repeat.

There is nothing to it
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Remember the Grandstand News? From memory it was mailed to members monthly and had everything in it a member could want to know. I remember always looking forward to its release each time. An online version monthly or fortnightly of this or something similar wouldn’t be impossible and would certainly improve the communication all members seek.

In his announcement of German's appointment Bob Shields commented on a considered selection process, German's coaching experience and vision for the future, and the creation of a winning culture.
All pre-requisites of course but there is no magic wand. It is a club wide awakening, not just of a sleeping giant, but a resurrection of all the lost culture and principles that once made this club a powerhouse.
This is our final chance to climb back from rock bottom or cease to exist. We dare not fail. We must get it all right both on-field and off-field and must be resolute in all endeavours to succeed.
The appointment of the new coach is a great start but it does not stop there. Now the hard work begins. A new coach, a new President, and a new era that starts right now.
All might and power to the Demons forever.

Yes the club can’t just sit back now and think German will waive a magic wand. The hard work starts with identifying the right recruits and working our zones and extracting the best talent. We need the right people in place to do these things.

Congratulations to Perths board for securing an elite level Tier 2 coach.
Hopefully Perter from the outside with a new set of eyes and ears. Can fix other issues for Perth also. That have sat under the noses of others for years.

Seems to me that maybe German did not apply for either the EP or the SD job.
Pruyn appointed at SD and Pickering seems to be front runner at EP.
As far as a Coach is concerned we are miles ahead.
The only thing that will bugger it up is not giving him what he needs to get the job done.
I expect the points system to be fully utilised with quality recruits.
And I expect our dealings with players to become innovative.

Snaring a proven WAFL coach is difficult these days unless you grab an assistant coming out of the AFL system and even then, it's no certainty they can handle the Head Coach position... so I think Perth FC has done well. Germo clearly sees plenty of upside in the Dees by moving back over here so it sounds like it's a good fit all round.

Hope you're right BC.
I certainly don't think we could have done any better.

Hope you're right BC.

I agree. We certainly are in a far better position than the other WAFL clubs who were seeking new coaches.
As you say, we must not mess around. German must be given everything he needs and we must use everything within our power to back him in, including an innovative yet prudent approach to recruiting.
It won't end there. We need to see the right people in place around him. The club will surely back him in with all he needs. It may not work any other way.
