For me, season is over.
No chance of recovering with such a bad percentage.
Season ruined by injury even before it started with a major recruit copping a season ending injury pre-season.
We are missing Smith in the midfield.
We rushed players back because we needed to.
It back fired.
Maston - not sure he was fit yesterday but he panicked with his disposal because he was under constant pressure.
Langlands - I think carried an injury, he looked to be limping at one stage, to me anyway.
Rogers - has been disappointing this year.
Sinclair - needed the run.
McInnes - was good and the run will have done him good.
Busher - was okay but we make him play all over the ground.

The year has unearthed some positives.
Regan Clarke, Jye Clark can both play and have a bright future.
Steel and Avery have been unearthed as promising youngsters.
McPartland likewise.
Cary has overcome injury problems and shown us he can play.
Stubbs also looks more comfortable at this level.
We need a ruckman desperately, one with strength, mobility and nous.
We need our backline to stabalise so that we can use both McInnes and Busher up forward.
Injuries to Giblett, Sinclair and Taylor have not helped here.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.

This game was lost before it started. I must have been the only person saying not to play Masten and Brady. They had been out for too long and needed a run through the reserves first.  Yeo had played 3 ressies games and looked good and together with McPartland who had been in good form should have played instead.
Next FFS we had Hill, Avery, Sing and Nicholas all in defence and there was no need for Busher to go back for 3/4 of the game. We needed to win he game not try and save it. We couldn't get the ball across half forward line.  Maybe with Busher playing half forward we may have.
Cary our best small forward playing in the middle from the first bounce - Why?????
Lastly Rogers doesn't have it any more. He fumbles, too slow, makes poor choices, drops too many marks and for such a good kick - kicks poorly.  He needs to be dropped for Rich or Hitchcock.

Agree with PD and DF about Busher. He should have played forward all game, When Gibba comes back, I'd like to see a settled forward structure of Busher at CHF and McInnes at FF. Or vice versa. But if we panic and send Busher back every time an opposition forward looks dangerous, then, as PD said, we won't kick enough goals. A forward line with those two, Cary, Stubbs and then Browne or Hitchcock or Richo or Langlands should have some firepower. Langlands doesn't get enough of the ball to play mid, leave him forward.

McPartland had 12 possessions in Ressies only 2 kicks wasn’t injured.played the full game.

Quill had a heap of possessions but honestly can’t give you much about the quality a few scrappy out of contest ones

Matt Rogers was very poor he got caught 3 or 4 times.

I'm not sure McPartland's stats are accurate there.  Plus all of the stats I saw of his were all hard ball gets - contested stats. Additionally, when he plays forward he works bloody hard to keep it forward.

Agreed! I only saw the last quarter but he was getting stuck right in, including a few tough contested marks (which aint easy when you’re 5’1!). I was surprised when i saw his stats.

I didn’t see any of the ressies but I agree let’s get Connor McPartland back in. Hopefully Tails and Gibba are available they would take the place of Sing and Avery. Jye Clark probably would be the one to make way for McPartland but he would be unlucky. He has a crack and his tackling is also excellent but I think McPartland is more likely to kick goals. Richardson or Quill in for Rogers.

How's Hitchcock going in the reserves? Kicking goals? I was spewing to lose him I thought he was going to become a league player this year.

Went ok in his debut against SF and kicked a nice long goal, was unlucky not to play the following week against WP but was held over as an emergency and didn't play reserves. Then played in that debacle against Subi where we only kicked one goal then had to make way for 7 players returning against EF. He looks like a promising player to watch, lives with ex Perth FF great Murray Couper I believe so there is no better player to get some goal kicking practice from.

Harsh on Avery, DD. If McPartland and Quill come in, the outs should be Clark and Rogers. If Gibba comes back, then Sing or Steel make way. (yes, I know you like Steel, but too many talls if he stays as well as Gibba.) If Taylor is fit, then I think Quill or McP will have to stay in the reserves, unless Browne makes way, which would be a bit harsh after his 2 goals v EF.
