It's funny how you can tell early on in a game whether your team is on or not. Well it took only 90 seconds to know we were not switched on when Kommer lining up for goal on the 50 saw Strnadica standing waiving his arms in the air 25m out and no one within 25 metres of him.

EF has 3 on the board before our blokes woke up and that was the game right there.

Other teams will have worked out how to beta Perth and it's not rocket science. Run. Spread hard, play on, overlap handball and we won't or can't keep up. We'd better hope for a wet winter from this point on to nullify that. Goalkicking is once again a serious problem. Our highest tally since round 1 has been 12. That won't win many games. Only 4 goal kickers yesterday. None from McInnes, Rogers, no-one from the midfield pushing forward.

Changes next week - does it matter? I didn't see the reserves game. Quill's numbers are impressive but were his disposals meaningful? Only 3 inside 50s from 37 touches. Still, reward form, so maybe Clark out, Quill in. Maybe Rogers out, Richardson or Hitchcock in. Hitchcock has 20 touches, 6 marks, 2 goals. But he strikes me as one of those players who can never quite make the step up to league. Gibba may come back, at the expense of Sing or Steel.

Jack Steel was one of the best players on the ground in the first qtr, possibly our best. Faded out a bit but shows a lot of potential. His last qtr mark and goal was clutch and brought us to within 10 points. If Burner kicks that goal on the run which he should have who knows what happens from there?

Sing was disappointing, hopefully Taylor and or Gibba are ready to come back in. Surely Corey Yeo has enough match fitness now after 4 reserves games.

Overall a pretty typical display for the PFC
On the positive side Steel and Avery both look promising.
Sing wasn't great but he's only played a handful of games and certainly the last few haven't been easy for an inexperienced player.
Masten's disposal was very average, putting it politely. Our players are also giving him the ball when on a number of occasions they should have taken responsibility for disposal. Being an experienced player he probably demands the ball quite often when he shouldn't!  Brady Grey has a read hot go but his disposal is on a par with Masten
Yesterday we had 11 players who had 10 or less possessions for their afternoons work, just leaves to much work for the others. Our lack of pace was clearly evident against Swans and we don't appear to have much in the cupboard to rectify.

Surely all those Perth ins, especially the ones who had been out for a good while, will be better for the run....add in ex EF boys in Yeo and Quill, and Perth could do the double over SF.....actually hope Perth do beat SF, sounds like SF are treading water a bit.....kissed on the John Thomas by the umps in their win over EF and knocked over by EP the following game, SF aren't flying as they were in 2020....Perth look far better on paper then either EF and EP do....so I reckon SF are definitely there for the taking....and Perth definitely match up better then most v SF too.

Well that is a positive for sure that they only have South away next weekend. I wonder if STT will give us a prediction of the outcome - surely the Demons win easy right?.

Perth have a good recent record over SF. Probably because SF have a team of plodders and chip the ball around- plays into Perths hands.

Perth to bounce back for mine

That's what happens when you are not 100% fit. Masto was carrying an injury during pre season I think. Has never really hit his straps this year but credit needs to be paid to the opposition. They came to play and put our blokes under pressure all day. Masto wasn't the only culprit. That was probably EF's best performance for the season. Not sure EF supporters would agree. They would know better than me.

It was our best display this season because it was our first four quarter performance (excluding the West Coast match).
