We have a bevy of mids.. Masten, Byrne, Grey, Smith, McPartland, Colledge, Clarke, Langlands, Quill, perhaps Yeo will be back at some stage, plus others who can have a run through midfield Fisher and Cognilio eg, even Stubbs and Richardson at times and maybe some of the new boys like Hitchcock, Clark and Hayward from the Colts.
Masten will play one more year. Yeo will play 1 more year. Quill will struggle to get consistent league games. Langlands will end up the same as Giobbi and only play 1 or 2 years. Grey and Fisher will play one maybe 2 years. Stubbs will go home next year. McPartland and Byrne are young and local so hopefully play 100 games in the red and black. Don't know much about the colt boys but how many of them don't go on and play league for us because we have had older stop gap players or recruits from other clubs preventing their development.
Gee wiz don’t bother turning up in 2021 PD. That is the most negative post I’ve seen for a long time.
That is all you have - "Gee wiz don't bother turning up in 2021" What sort of stupid comment is that? Meanwhile the rest of us are having a decent conversation about youth recruitment vs old age. I have my 2021 membership and a second one to bring friends along. I will be there you can count on that. I think you will find many members will agree that players like Luke English should be a priority. To be fair I'm sure we chased Luke hard but my concern is we didn't have anything left to offer because of all the other recruits. We now a 1 possibly a 2 year window. I have nothing against recruiting interstate players like this new fella from St Kilda but it frustrates me when when they leave after 1 or 2 years and in that time we have missed out on local players that go on and play 10 years for other clubs.
If you can't contribute something interesting to the conversation - I prefer you just read every one else's comments.
Nothing stupid about my comment mate just gobsmacked by your negative outlook after one of the most productive recruiting campaigns in the last 20 years highlighted in bold above.
What you call "negative" I call reality. Answer these questions:
How many games did Giobbi play? Lets not forget his mate Cox both from Casey Dmeons, how many did he play?
How many games did Mitch Morton or his brother play?
What about Angus Graham?
And what about Kyle Reimers ?
I really could go on for a long time with names but you get the point. As much as I like players like Matthew Rogers, he was 29 when he returned to us and chances are we will only get 2 maybe 3 years out of him and in the meantime young players like Z. Roe, L. Marlin and Blake Johnson are not increasing their development with league experience. This has been the downfall of our footy department for 30 years.
You call it negative all you want, I have 30 plus years of proof on my side.
