I think Murphy, Lague and Johnson were all league quality footballers but injury prevented them from getting a decent run at it. So as it appears now: Losses: Lague, Murphy, Dennis, Payne, Marlin, Dela, Johnson, O'Driscoll, McDonald. Gains: 3 Claremont players, Bird, Smith, DL, Loersch. Still seems to be some uncertainty around whether Yeo will be back, but we can add Byrne as a gain from last year. Then there's English and Taylor still up in the air. I'd say we have improved in terms of midfield/running power but we need to convert that into goals.

From memory Murphy might have been a 5 point player.

DL had modest stats from limited opportunities at St Kilda. Also had ankle problems last season. Unable to find his stats at VFL level. That would be a guide.

Fraser McInness still not back on our list.

I don’t know where Payne has gone but he did some good tagging jobs this year. We need to keep Henderson now if needed for that role, although not as effective as Payne.

Fair point, StT, but losing those players does affect our depth. Yes, Murphy was a 5 point player. Article in the West today saying that the McInnes paperwork is expected to be signed off imminently. Keeping those 3, especially Grey and McInnes, is huge. It may be that English can play a tagging role - I think he did that in the VFL. I just don't think Hendo is good enough to play league footy. Serious question: does anyone at all think Roe can have an impact? He just doesn't feature in any discussions on this thread. I am not confident. A player of his ability, who can and has kicked 5-6 at league level more than once, should kick 4 a game in the reserves. He barely got 4 kicks a game, let alone goals.

Elijah Taylor fined $5000 in court. Plans to go to Melbourne and play VFL in bid to re-ignite AFL career.
He is listed by WAFL as a Perth player. Would need a clearance if he goes to VFL or anywhere else.

What a joke, hopefully the DPP appeals. 5 grand for punching your GF in the face and whipping her with a belt. Domestic violence groups should be outraged. Further away from Lathlain the better as far as I'm concerned.

I hope we’re looking at Jono Marsh who is contemplating a move back to WA. Might be a bit of a points stretch, but definitely worth it if we can get him. Hopefully Saints buddy Langlands can put in a good word
