Hey PN...no offence taken and I understand what you were getting at. Just burns the guts to see this club get off a very serious infraction of the rules, particularly after all the clubs in the past (WCE included) went through. Then to see a player get a lengthy suspension for drinking an energy drink...FFS.

Just found this on another website, says 100% what i dont have the capacity ( or time) to write. ( written by a Vic by the way)

No, I'm with you. Top level sport isn't sport any more. Let's face it, it hasn't been for a while now. But it's got to the point of just not being much fun either.

When the AFL sent Fitzroy to the wilderness, everyone said "its more a business than a sport nowadays!" But people could still see some point to a business like arrangement.

But now. It's just so polluted by every other 'interest' group other than the pure sport itself, it's unrecognisable. For one, the gambling industry has taken footy by the throat and is shaking it down for every cent it and it's fans are worth. People ring up talk back and whine about clubs changing their team lists at the last minute and making the gambling aspect of footy non-transparent and not above board. I can't reconcile with this aspect of footy alone! Someone takes a gamble and is supposed to be guaranteed a fair go somehow? It's a ludicrous notion that everyone now thinks is normal.

Then sponsors, once a vital side element of the game are allowed to ram down our throats their cruddy products whether we like it or wherever and whenever they like. They have the RIGHT to do this don't you know.

Then all the old boys dodgy arrangements. Wasn't it Evans who owned the catering company that supplies the AFL stadiums?

Then there's the stupid draw of this so called 'competition'. It's not a competition. it's a money making venture for those in control of the rich clubs.

Then there's the expansion teams that no one gives the remotest of cruds about. And the 'sport' suffers for it. And the fans of the teams that made the 'sport' what it is suffer for it.

And there's probably dozens of other examples I could go on about if I had the energy.

And today. Oh rue the day. Oh woe for the day. The AFL had the most glaring chance for nobility it's ever had. And it blatantly chose the unfathomable and illogical path that just confirms that the word 'sport' has NO place when mentioning the AFL.

Ironically, it was something Jobe Watson said today that struck a chord with me. Something along the lines of 'I just want to get back to playing the game we loved as kids'. It really saddened me, because as soon I as heard the verdict, any passion I had was knocked out of me like getting a kick in the guts and being winded. And then I hear Watson talking about a love for the game.

I always thought I could imagine how the old Fitzroy supporters felt. But it was today when I lost the passion for the game that I've come to realise just how sapped they must have been. The game that I forever held as the best spectator sport by a mile bar none is now something I might watch with a shrug and move on the next thing in front of my face.

Todays decision was pathetic. And why did McLachlan come out just before it and pre-empt it publicly? And how did Tim Watson know enough inside knowledge to pre-empt the result so confidently. He bloody well knew what was being handed down, which stinks in itself.

And what of their concern for organised crime 'infiltrating' the AFL. My GOD!! They just ENDORSED a program run by these types. The clouds parted, the sun shone down and the AFL had the opportunity to do something magnificent for this game and make it worthy again. Instead, they dropped their dacks and took a massive dump.

I'm so over the AFL. They have just confirmed that all they really care about is the rich Vic clubs and the expansion clubs. If Bulldogs, Saints, or Roos win the flag it will only be by miraculous fluke. You may as well add us to that list to sadly.

That's a well written post I must admit it felt like a kick to the guts when the verdict was handed down, I wish Wada had gone straight to Court Of Arbitration In World Sports instead of the AFL tribunal I would say it would of been a completely different result this just stinks.

About time somme people with tunnel vision woke up. WE GOT OFF as there was NOT enough evidence to prove the case. Bit like a murder case with no one dead, no one missing & no
body but someone accusing. AFL & ASADA stuffed it up. Get over it & lets nail the amateurish cheats like CROWLEY & the two dimwits at Collingwood.

Have a listen to Mcdevits statement this morning he is a man on a mission I don't necessarily think ASADA will appeal but WADA will.

WADA will take it to CAS where there have the power to subpoena Alavi and Charters and cross examine them this ain't over by a long shot, and Essendon won't have the AFL looking after their backs this time.

Personally ,I think Essendon got off on the "Sergeant Schultz Clause" used by many politicians & wealthy personalties..." i known nothing". Questions I would like answered are... Who was sold on Danks' scheme would be good for Essendon FC.? Who actually convinced the Club to employ him? Surely that person has the knowledge & understands the process of the program? Or do they just employ someone on a rough outline of a injection program? I do not believe the players are at fault here. They put their trust & faith in the Club would not take decisions that would jeapodise their health or careers. However under the rules sportspeople are responsible for any medication they take, so in this case they must bear some blame. The Club have shirked responsiblity by taking the control of this injection program away from their Club Doctors' & having the it administered at rooms across the road from Windy Hill. No logging of what was injected or the number of injections by their own medicos. What happened to the letter forwarded to the Club with apprehensions & concerns raised by Dr.Reid? Nobody other than "Honest Steve Danks" has a record of the program that was administerd. Convenient, that as person not registered as an AFL employee, he cannot be forced to give evidence at an AFL or ASADA investigation. Meanwhile the Club claim " we know nothing", but still know enough to state what was administered was not illegal. Sorry, to make that claim, you have to know what drugs were involved! If the scheme is as clean as they maintain why was Dean Robinson & Steve Dank forced out of the Club as pariahs. To the players...you have been thoroughly let down by your Club...in my opinion your penalty of missing a final series is enough for you. James Hird misses a year of coaching to be reimbursded with a million dollar holiday in France & attending a very exclusive & expensive business course. To have no supposed knowledge of what their players in the Clubs care were injected is an absolute disgrace! Keep the players & medical staff in thd dark & if the shit hits the fan...we revert to the "Sergeant Schultz Clause" & play dumb. We know it has worked with others in past & hopefully it will for us. Admit nothing & above all take don't responsibilty for anything...especially if our arses are the line!!!

Great summation VF. Everyone except delusional Bombers fans can see this for what it is, just another saga swept under the AFL's very large and bumpy carpet.

"100's if not thousands of injections"

If they weren't doing anything dodgy why did Thompson and Reid tell them to stop?

And if they didn't take the Beta 4 stuff they imported from China and compounded, where is it then?
